Hi Shahas, Its best to reply to the list so that others can help you too, or learn from the answers. Generally fields will only be mandatory if they are authority controlled. That depends on your set up. The manual can help you there, too. http://manual.koha-community.org/3.6/en/ Best wishes, Bob On 09/04/12 22:44, shahas rahman wrote: > Thank u for reply,, > > For placing order, the fields under 'item' is mandatory or not ?? > > If mandatory,,how to fill that data's,,,how to add items to drop down > list,,,???? > I want to save barcode also,, > > Please help,,, > > > Inline image 1 > > On Mon, Apr 9, 2012 at 4:31 PM, Bob Birchall <bob(a)calyx.net.au > <mailto:bob@calyx.net.au>> wrote: > > On 09/04/12 22:13, shahas rahman wrote: > > Hi, > > I am using koha 3.6,, > I need help for configuration,,,For placing/receving order we > need to add > item record. > How to add item record,(we need to add record for each item) > when am placing order 'all selection fields under 'item' are > empty, how to > fill these filds for selection. > > please respond,, > > What value have you set for the system preference '|AcqCreateItem' ? > > |Otherwise the manual may help you: > http://manual.koha-community.org/3.6/en/placingacqorder.html > > Best wishes, > Bob Birchall > Calyx > > _______________________________________________ > Koha mailing list http://koha-community.org > Koha(a)lists.katipo.co.nz <mailto:Koha@lists.katipo.co.nz> > http://lists.katipo.co.nz/mailman/listinfo/koha > > > > > -- > */ > > */Best Regards, > > Shahas Rahman > Abudhabi > 00971 503211648 /* > > // > > /* > -- Bob Birchall Director Calyx Group Pty Limited Mob: 0414 796 988 Email: bob(a)calyx.net.au Web: www.calyx.net.au Participating in the Koha Open ILS project: http://koha-community.org

Using authorities in Koha 3.02
by David Allen 07 Apr '12

07 Apr '12

I'm having trouble understanding how Authorities (mainly author) is supposed to work. I'm sure part of it is me not understanding the work flow, but equally it looks as though something is not functioning. Koha version is 3.02.11.000 My understanding is that when cataloguing a book I should check whether the author is already in the catalogue and whether the current form of name is the same as that already existing, preferable to that existing, or that the existing form should be used. When I create a new record (or import one) I click on Tag Editor for field 100$a, and a search screen comes up. I enter an author surname (for an author already in the catalogue, or for one already in the authorities and click search. Whether I search default or personal name, I get a no records found message. If I go into Home/Cataloguing/Authorities and search either author or default, and any combination of the other fields I get no results found, if I choose Personal Name and leave everything else blank I get an error 500. If I leave everything here blank and click on submit I get a list of every Authority in the system, running to 67 pages to search through! If I click submit on the blank search box that comes up in response to clicking on Tag Editor for field 100$a, I get an error 500 message. BiblioAddsAuthorities is set to allow, and authors that I have entered myself or imported appear in the list of authorities. However the main part of the catalogue was imported in bulk. I should like to import some (or all) of the authors there into authorities, but I can see no way to do it from within Authorities, a Marc screen come up that requires keyboard input and does not allow tag editing. Where I have imported records with variant names I would like to combine the biblios under one name, and delete the other. I can't see any way to validate biblios into an author authority. I've looked at the manual, which shows me plenty of screen shots and definitions, but doesn't tell me how to use it, so either the system, or my intuition (or both) are at fault. Any help gratefully received... David Allen -- David Allen London

Adding MARC fields
by Amy Purvis 07 Apr '12

07 Apr '12

I want to add some different MARC fields that are not part of the default to 2.2.6. Is there a way to do this? I already know about the " + " sign to repeat fields that are part of the default new biblio record, but I want to know if there's a way, for example, to add an 050 field. Thanks for any responses! Amy

Kohacon12 - Sponsorship now open!
by MJ Ray 06 Apr '12

06 Apr '12

Hi All I'm delighted to send this mail (on behalf of the organising team) to let people know we are now accepting general sponsorships for Kohacon12, by bank transfer or paypal/card. http://koha-community.org/kohacon12/sponsoring-kohacon12/ As you probably all know Kohacon is a free conference and it's all being organised by some brilliant volunteers, but we do need to pay for it somehow. So all donations are welcome, but there are two levels of extra benefits: "Kind Hearts" if you give over GBP 50 and "The Full Monty" for contributions over GBP 500. It will be a great conference and you could help to make it even better... See you in Edinburgh! -- MJ Ray (slef), member of www.software.coop, a for-more-than-profit co-op. http://koha-community.org supporter, web and library systems developer.
