Introduction & Help
by Zachary Osborne 12 Apr '12

12 Apr '12

Hi everyone, My name is Zack and I'm the Librarian the Toronto Botanical Garden's Library. I've recently installed Koha (version 3.06.02.003). I don't consider myself to be very tech-savvy, so I'm optimistic that I will be able to learn a lot from you, and from the Koha documentation. My library currently uses InMagic DB/TextWorks as its Intergrated Library System (ILS) for cataloguing and circulation. I am desperate to migrate the ILS from InMagic to Koha, and am very excited to do so. I've read a few threads about the InMagic to Koha conversion, and am hopeful this will get me through the migration of its records and patron data. So far I've downloaded MarcEdit, and have exported the InMagic catalogue records as a CSV file. The next step is to map the fields from InMagic to the MARC framework before uploading to Koha. Has anyone else done this type of conversion before, from InMagic to Koha? Thanks, and I look forward to everything Koha has to offer! -Zack Zachary Osborne Head Librarian Toronto Botanical Garden 777 Lawrence Avenue East Toronto, Ontario M3C 1P2 T 416-397-1375 F 416-397-1354 E librarian(a)torontobotanicalgarden.ca <mailto:librarian@torontobotanicalgarden.ca> W www.torontobotanicalgarden.ca <http://www.torontobotanicalgarden.ca/>

KUDOS 2012
by Jim Maroon 12 Apr '12

12 Apr '12

Hey, y'all. I wanted to attend KUDOS last year, but at the time we had not definitively selected Koha as our ILS (although I knew in my heart we would), so the higher ups nixed the idea. So, I was looking forward to this year... until I saw a somewhat cryptic email on the list that said there would be no KUDOS 2012. I want to ignore it but my head won't let it go. Is there a particular reason why? Or is it just that nobody has signed on to host the thing? Feel free to write me off-list if this is a sensitive subject. Thanks. --Jim Maroon storypage(a)gmail.com -- ================================================== "The man, who, by his own and his family's labour, can provide a sufficiency of food and raiment and a comfortable dwelling place, is not a poor man." --William Cobbett, *Cottage Economy*, 1826.

by Ephraim Makeke 11 Apr '12

11 Apr '12

Hi All For purposes of quality control, we would like our cataloguers to search an exact barcode and to get the exact record matching that barcode. Now, in the KOHA system, is there a place where we can set parameters to search by an exact barcode?
