Koha in 200+ public schools in Italy
by Paolo Dongilli 05 Feb '13

05 Feb '13

Dear all, my name is Paolo and I work as enterprise architect for the Autonomous Province of Bozen-Bolzano (South Tyrol, Italy). We plan to dismiss the old client-server system in use in 200+ German and Ladin school libraries. There are around 60 high schools, 60 medium-sized middle and ground schools and 80 small-sized middle and ground schools. The total number of physical resources is around 850,000 units. I want to propose the introduction of Koha and I would be grateful if you could provide some experiences of the same or higher order of magnitude to be presented as examples. I would also appreciate some technical hints or examples of minimum requirements in terms of hardware and LAMP stack. I thank you in advance and send you in the meantime my best regards. Paolo.

git repository

Respected All I am new to git, Kindly guide me which command shall I give now for upgrading my koha version. -------------------------------- You asked me to pull without telling me which branch you want to merge with, and 'branch.koha.merge' in your configuration file does not tell me either. Please specify which branch you want to merge on the command line and try again (e.g. 'git pull <repository> <refspec>'). See git-pull(1) for details. If you often merge with the same branch, you may want to configure the following variables in your configuration file: branch.koha.remote = <nickname> branch.koha.merge = <remote-ref> remote.<nickname>.url = <url> remote.<nickname>.fetch = <refspec> See git-config(1) for details. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -- Thanks and Regards Sandeep Bhavsar Librarian Dr.V.N.Bedekar Institute of Management Studies Thane(W) 400601 MUMBAI. Koha Community Survey
by Nicole Engard 03 Feb '13

03 Feb '13

Hello all, I was inspired by a recent post on Smashing Magazine ( http://wp.smashingmagazine.com/2013/02/01/wordpress-community-offers-advice…) about being a part of the WordPress community to write up a similar post for Koha. I'd love to have your input/quotes to share. I will use your responses as the basis for my post. All questions are optional so only fill in the fields that you feel you have something to contribute to. Of course all responses (anonymized) will be shared publicly and opening in the Koha community. I'd love if you'd particpate here: http://survey.web2learning.net/limesurvey/index.php?sid=61682&lang=en The survey will only be open for a week so I can get writing, so please answer soon if you want. Koha : Customized Live DVD
by vinod 31 Jan '13

Dear All, Its my pleasure to share experience with koha over the internet in the form of Koha live DVD (3.8.9) which is almost similar to the Koha which has been implemented at IIT Roorkee, Saharanpur Campus. DVD provides many customizations which can convert your Koha OPAC into library website also. Therefore you can use this live DVD for automation and creation of your Library website in a single server. Some useful display and searching features has been added, so simply you need to edit the text and links given in the codes in koha "GLOBAL SYSTEM PREFERENCES' option or you can delete all to add your own codes. There are several unique features of this DVD like direct backup in your pen drive, search by acc.number in home page, display of acc. number in detailed display etc. Please feel free to contact for any assistance/suggestions. You may also refer other koha live dvd made by Mr. Vimal Kumar (http://vimalkumar.org/koha) Its my moral responsibility to share my experiences with community as i achieved the same due to sharing of knowledge. The detail documents are downloadable from the website.I am thankful to the Librarian,Dy. Librarian, other staffs of IITR, Professor In-Charge SRE Campus Library, and users of Library who appreciated a lot for the whole work. Download Koha live DVD : http://sourceforge.net/projects/vkmkoha/files/ Installation Video : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2mg8h394E28 -- View this message in context: http://koha.1045719.n5.nabble.com/Koha-Customized-Live-DVD-tp5740623.html Sent from the Koha-general mailing list archive at Nabble.com.

Paid For Question
by Nicole Engard 30 Jan '13

30 Jan '13

I have a question about the paid for notation on the item record. If you see here: http://screencast.com/t/AKOcYNiPBy3n it says that it was paid for by a patron on the 24th of Sept. Then if you look at the patron's record http://screencast.com/t/UzKqgaPayou see that they did make a payment related to that item, but it wasn't a payment for the lost item - it was a processing fee. I'm wondering what makes this note appear in the first place? Thanks Nicole
