Why can't we import matching records?
by Erlanda Simonyan 31 May '13

31 May '13

Dear Friends, We upgraded Koha from version 3.10.04 to 3.10.05. Our record match set isn't working at all (nothing import when we use it), but it worked in 3.10.04 version. Why can't we import (only can stage) matching records ? What is the matter? Regards

Extracting Marc Tag 245b for remainder of title in Access
by BRANNON, CHRISTOPHER 31 May '13

31 May '13

Hey folks. I'm trying to build a report in Access (don't ask me why). I know in Koha, I can use ExtractValue(bi.marcxml, '//datafield[@tag="245"]/subfield[@code="b"]') to get the remainder of the title in the Marc record. However, ExtractValue isn't a function in Microsoft Access. Anyone know of an equivalent method for retrieving this piece of information in an Access report? Data import
by Iming Chan 30 May '13

30 May '13

Dear all, We are planning to migrate our data to Koha shortly, i have a few questions that I hope someone can help me: 1. Each of our bibliographic record has a sequential number. Is it possible to import them in that order, so the sequential number match up with the Koha biblionumber (in MARC 999$c)? 2. We have deleted some bibliographic records in the past, so some sequential numbers are missing. To maintain consistency, I assume "dummy" records would have to be created for those missing numbers? 3. Our item records are exported from the old system in csv format (separate to our bibliographic records which are in MARC format). Obviously we need to convert those item records into MARC format. However, do we need to import them together with the bibliographic records, or they can be imported separately and then using MARC 999$c for matching purpose (hopefully Koha biblionumber MARC 999$c will synchronise with our old sequential numbers for our bibliographic records)? Your assistance is greatly appreciated. Ability to swap MARC tags during data import
by Iming Chan 30 May '13

30 May '13

Dear all, As we are planning to migrate our data to Koha shortly, it will be nice that swap MARC tags can be done as part of the data import. In our previous system, we can setup MARC tag swaps in a nominated order, for example: 1 - 001$a swap to 035$a 2 - 984$b swap to 001$a When we received MARC records from the national bibliographic database, their Control Number is output in MARC 001$a. This conflicts with our local system number that stores in 001$a. So we move the national database Control Number to MARC 035$a. When we added our holding details to the national database, we also included our local system number and this is output via MARC 984$b. So in order to match and merge bibliographic records during data import, we moved our local system number output in MARC 984$b to MARC 001$a (where such is number is normally stored in our local system). If there is no matching numbers, then a new bibliographic record is added. When there is a match, we can also nominate which MARC tag(s) and/or subfield tag(s) to replace by the incoming record (as there are some * local * MARC tag(s) and subfield tag(s) that we want to keep during the import). This functionality will eliminate the need to use MarcEdit or other similar software for every data import! Installation problems
by bksubhuti 29 May '13

Dear Knowledgeable Helpers... I have installed the squeeze edition of koha-common for ubuntu 13.04 I had some problems getting the page to work, but I got the login page to work. Now I have a problem logging into the web installer page. I looked at the xml file in the etc/koha/sites/library/koha-conf.xml *(We used "library" for the instance name)* I saw kohauser and a cryptic password (cut and pasted in the pwd textbox). It does not seem to work. It just reloads the web installer logon screen again. *I followed the instructions on * http://wiki.koha-community.org/wiki/Koha_on_ubuntu_-_packages and also http://wiki.koha-community.org/wiki/Koha_3.x_on_Debian_Squeeze (this worked for setting up the repository) I should note that I ran the sql statements from .... *Ubuntu MySQL Security Tweak* on the install wiki page (listed above) What to do.. what did I do wrong? Lastly, There are other user accounts made now.. Koha-instance instancename-koha and Koha instance library-koha I'm not sure how to log into that. I guess there is a command for koha-create in some other post. I'm not sure how to do this. I'm not sure why there is not a script to do all of this, but I guess that is the way of lynux. An old programmer cliche.. if it was hard to code it should be hard to read. :) If someone could help, I would appreciate it. I'm a moderate user of ubuntu.. but not a real power user. I know some sql and other stuff. opac / no results for a search
by Samuel Desseaux 29 May '13

29 May '13

Hi! We use koha 3.12 and we have today a problem with our opac. When we do a search, it gives no results (but, the professional search work fine). I run zebra as a user named koha and the ownership of files are ok. I've checked some systempreferences as "hidelostitem" and "opacsuppression": all is ok. An idea? Best regards Samuel
