Authority Indexing
by Barry Cannon 24 May '13

24 May '13

Hello, We have a library that wants to impose authority control on the 752 tag, subfields a,b,d to ensure consistency in entering place names. We have added the link to GEOGR_NAME to the biblio marc framework, adjusted the utilities to extract the authorities from the bibs to include the data, run the linker to link the auths and bibs together. Modified authority-koha-indexdefs.xml to pick up the new subfields (and regenerated the XSL file) The new authorities are in the file and are searchable, and the link is visible in the marcxml in the biblioitems record, BUT the authority search only shows the $a and does not show the number of linked biblios. Also, adding a new record and authority adds to the biblio record, but does not create the authority. Would anyone have any pointers on how we configure this correctly? Regards Barry

Importing Circulation History data
by Steven Nickerson 24 May '13

24 May '13

Hello folks, We're migrating from a home-grown Library Management System (using MySQL for the DB) to Koha. The current DB has the following fields in the "circulation" table, and I'm wondering if anyone could provide me with the SQL commands for me to be able to successfully get the existing data into the old_items table in Koha's MySQL DB? I think I can get the MySQL dump that contains only those records in my current DB that have been returned, but don't know the MySQL statement(s) to "import" it and exactly what fields in Koha's 'old_items' table that are required. Any comments/tips/thoughts on doing this are greatly appreciated. Current DB Circulation table: book_id patron_id trans_date trans_time due_date Also, I'm assuming that if I accomplish this successfully I should also be able to do pretty much the same thing to get the currently checked-out items imported into the 'items' table as well.does that sound like a reasonable assumption/expectation? THANKS! Steve

KohaCon13 Preliminary Program
by Nicole Engard 23 May '13

23 May '13

Hi all, This is the preliminary program for KohaCon13 (please excuse typos or mess ups in time). I know you have all been waiting for this so I wanted to get it out to you all ASAP. I will fix the styling and the typed times (or if you feel like formatting this better you're free to do so). http://wiki.koha-community.org/wiki/KohaCon13_Program Nancy will be in touch with speakers to make sure that everything is still okay as far as speaking and coming to the conference. We did have to shorten some ideas so that we could fit everyone (we didn't want to leave anyone talking about something relevant out of the program). Thanks Nicole C. Engard

exporting bibliographic records
by schnydszch 23 May '13

23 May '13

I have koha 3.10.5 installed in debian 6.0 64bit. I'm trying to export my book item bibliographic holdings, with no option in from biblionumber and to biblionumber, item type books, library: all, and all others not ticked. I'm exporting it into marc. Only 5,000 plus were imported when in fact when I search my OPAC with itemtype books I get 8,000 plus. How come there were bibliographic records not imported. Thanks and good day! -- View this message in context: http://koha.1045719.n5.nabble.com/exporting-bibliographic-records-tp5753557… Sent from the Koha-general mailing list archive at Nabble.com.
