Fwd: Importing MARC from the Command Line

---------- Forwarded message ---------- From: Bob Elgie <bob.elgie(a)gmail.com> Date: Fri, Jun 21, 2013 at 10:28 PM Subject: Re: [Koha] Importing MARC from the Command Line To: Nicole Engard <nengard(a)gmail.com> I meant that the LC description of Leader position 05 is "Record status" and states that "c" in position 05 indicates "Corrected or revised. Addition/change other than in the Encoding level code has been made to the record." I've understood this to mean that ILS software developers have the option to use this byte in the leader to update an existing biblio, which sounds like what you wanted to do by matching on ISBN. I expect that implementing this in software would match on tag 001 instead. I've wondered why koha doesn't (as I believe) do this, while taking care not to over-write tags 9XX or links. Too tricky? I hope that clarifies. Hi, It partly answers the question. What I was interested in is what happens with the defaults installation of Koha with the main Libraries where one can choose from the "My Library" list on the first log in page. That is what I was referring to. Once logged in to the staff client, librarians with appropriate permissions can choose another branch by clicking on 'Set library' at top right of the page. I hope this answers your question. I've used MarcEdit to create some MARC records to import our "holdings" but when I search ALL items come up showing "No copies available" for an Availability status. I did pretty much the same thing a couple of months back on our "test" environment and was successful at getting all of our records imported and created a "template" / map file in MarcEdit that I used again this time to try to import into our "production" system, but am now getting this message for all items. I'm not 100% sure what version of Koha our "test" system was running (and it is now shutdown), but is it possible that some fields are now in different places in the database? I have looked at items.barcode, items.homelibrary, and items.holdinglibrary and all 3 of those fields have correct values in my current database.are there other fields that are required for Koha to know that we actually hold a copy of that item for check-out? I also did notice on the MARC import in Koha that the "MARC21" encoding set was NOT an available choice.only UTF-8 and MARC8 and a couple of others.could this have something to do with it? Are my records not getting imported properly, perhaps? If so, how do I enable MARC21 format in Koha? Any ideas what I might be missing or where else to look? THANKS! Enabling Choosing branch library at log on

Koha multiple instance
by schnydszch 20 Jun '13

20 Jun '13

I have Koha 3.10.5 installed in Debian 6.0 x64. Now, I want to install another instance by following http://wiki.koha-community.org/wiki/Installing_Multiple_Instances_of_Koha, I was able to do until perl Makefile.PL but when I go 'make' part, I get -bash: make: command not found. That's in our working server. But when I tried it in local server with almost same config (Koha 3.10.5 - Debian 6.0), I was able to install another instance. What could be the problem with my working server? Thanks & have a nice day! -- View this message in context: http://koha.1045719.n5.nabble.com/Koha-multiple-instance-tp5758848.html Sent from the Koha-general mailing list archive at Nabble.com.

Koha lost and replaced by another item
by schnydszch 20 Jun '13

20 Jun '13

Good day koha users & developers! How do you deal with lost items by a patron but replaced by another item with a different title? I read up the manual, lost status is in 952$1 MARC tag and I have long overdue (lost), lost, lost and paid for, missing, replaced and withdrawn. What I did is set status for the item as replaced but to show that the item was replaced by another item is what I'm lost at. Is there a way to do this? This will show in the intranet, not the OPAC. How this is done in other Koha libraries? thanks & cheers! -- View this message in context: http://koha.1045719.n5.nabble.com/Koha-lost-and-replaced-by-another-item-tp… Sent from the Koha-general mailing list archive at Nabble.com.
