Kohacon 2014 in Córdoba, Argentina
by Mirko 07 Oct '13

07 Oct '13

Hi everybody, Kohacon 2014 will take place in Córdoba, Argentina! Congratulations! We have a clear vote of roughly 3:1. There are some duplicate votes on both sides which I will consider software or server errors :P and I will have a look at the unfinished votes later. I had one person saying they could not finish the vote, later telling me that it worked eventually. I cannot present final numbers at this point but the result is clear. I'd like to thank both Córdoba and Ibadan very much for offering to be hosts for our conference! -- Mirko

links between bibs and authorities lost for custom authority types since upgrade from 3.6
by Fabio T. 06 Oct '13

06 Oct '13

Hello Koha community, a few days ago I upgraded a Koha package system (UNIMARC flavour) from 3.6 to 3.12: I really like the 3.1x series and everything went quite smooth except some links between bibliographic and authority records being lost. Now if I go to More › Authorities and search the authorities by type, I get the expected search results but only the records belonging to the "bundled" italian auth types are correctly linked to biblios in the "Used in" column. I have created two custom authority types in the 3.6 system but according to 3.1x (the problem occurs in 3.10 and 3.12, not sure about 3.8) they are all Used in 0 biblio(s). I was aware of the warning for UNIMARC libraries upgrading to 3.10 and I manually replaced non-UNIMARC values found here http://bugs.koha-community.org/bugzilla3/show_bug.cgi?id=3087, restarted Zebra, even did a full reindex, but no success. I quickly checked some data involved in the linking within auth_header and biblioitems tables (like biblionumbers, biblioitemnumbers and $9 in the marcxml fields) and they seem to match with the ones in 3.6. I've been scratching my head for some days and tweaked some more the Zebra files but I had no luck, I also ran link_bibs_to_authorities.pl, and enabled the CatalogModuleRelink and LinkerKeepStale sysprefs... but again, no success. :) Could you help me please? Obviously I can provide additional info if needed, just ask! Thank you very much. Duplicating a running environment
by Steven Nickerson 06 Oct '13

06 Oct '13

Hello everyone, If I have a working 3.12.00.000 environment installed from the Debian squeeze packages, what is the best way to make an exact, complete duplicate onto a 2nd machine? Can anyone send me or point me to some step-by-step instructions? Doesn't have to be complete details, just the general steps (i.e. install Koha from scratch from the packages, backup MySQL DB, copy "such-and-such" a directory from the 1st machine to the 2nd and modify "this" config. File and "that", etc.). Do I have to make sure that the same version of Koha is installed on the 2nd machine, and if so, how do I force apt-get to install the 3.12.00.000 version? Or can I copy the existing Koha directories over from the 1st server to the 2nd and not even do the install via the packages on the 2nd one? Hope this makes sense.trying to build a "test" environment AFTER already having the "production" environment up and running. Thanks, as always! Steve

Zebra not indexing

I'm probably missing something basic somewhere, but my zebra indexes are not getting created as expected. It looks as if it is creating the index: -bash-4.1$ PERL5LIB=/usr/share/koha/lib:/usr/lib64 ./bin/migration_tools/rebuild_zebra.pl -b -v -r Zebra configuration information ================================ Zebra biblio directory = /var/lib/koha/zebradb/biblios Zebra authorities directory = /var/lib/koha/zebradb/authorities Koha directory = /usr/share/koha/intranet/cgi-bin BIBLIONUMBER in : 999$c BIBLIOITEMNUMBER in : 999$d ================================ skipping authorities ==================== exporting biblio ==================== 401.................................................................................................... Records exported: 489 ==================== REINDEXING zebra ==================== ==================== CLEANING ==================== But nothing gets created: -bash-4.1$ ls -l /var/lib/koha/zebradb/biblios/register total 4 -rwxrwxrwx 1 tanturprod koha 27 Sep 23 09:21 README And it is not a file permissions issue: -bash-4.1$ touch /var/lib/koha/zebradb/biblios/register/junk -bash-4.1$ ls -l /var/lib/koha/zebradb/biblios/register/ total 4 -rw-r--r-- 1 tanturprod koha 0 Oct 3 12:25 junk -rwxrwxrwx 1 tanturprod koha 27 Sep 23 09:21 README What should I be looking for? Are any other workaround to generate authorities from biblio records? Or a script to deduplicate authorities... Regards! Pablo Bianchi Bs As, Argentina
