The origin of "Record Matching Rules" ?
by zolot 11 Jun '14

11 Jun '14

Hi ! The so-called "record matching rule" determines the method of comparison of "incoming record" and "existing record" when importing MARC record into Koha. (See "Koha 3.14 Manual (en)", chapter "2. Administration", section "4.7. Record Matching Rules".) But what does "to compare an incoming record against an existing record" mean? Are structure or content of the different subfields of these records compared ? What is it being made for ? In general: what problem arise during import process and is being solved with the help of this rule ? These questions are straight related to work in Koha. For example, what threshold value is better: 100 or 100000 ? Why? What does a threshold depend on? Et cetera. Thank you. Wishes, Gennady

Continued issues with frameworks
by Alexander Tim 11 Jun '14

11 Jun '14

So I am still struggling after what seemed like some success with frameworks. I cannot seem to clear warnings for homebranch and holdingbranch not being mapped and with the correct authorised value. I have the following lines in my XML file: tagfield,tagsubfield,liblibrarian,libopac,repeatable,mandatory,kohafield,tab,authorised_value,authtypecode,value_builder,isurl,hidden,frameworkcode,seealso,link,defaultvalue,maxlength 952,a,Permanent location,Permanent Location,0,0,items.homebranch,-1,branches,#,#,0,-5,TIM2,#,#,#,9999 952,b,Current location,Current Location,0,0,items.holdingbranch,-1,branches,#,#,0,-5,TIM2,#,#,#,9999 [The above is a csv extract] This to me shows that items.homebranch and items.holdingbranch are assigned to tag 952 subfields a and b respectively. They are on tab -1, so as to comply with the requirement to have itemnum subfield set to -1 and to have all item fields on the same tab and tag. They also have an authorised_value of branches. I can see that they are mapped under Koha - MARC mapping but still this issue persists. I also have a library created. I previously thought I have fixed it but for the life of me cannot replicate it. Have I totally got the wrong end of the stick here? These are the last two errors I have and would be grateful to have this fixed. possible bug
by Hugo Agud 11 Jun '14

11 Jun '14

Dear all Before opening a bug, I wish to check with you one issue with attach item. (I have checked bugzilla and we have not been able to find a bug like this) Koha 3.14.3 We have moved one item from one bib record to another using 'attach item' and it has copied the items, but it has not the items from the original bib. Anybody else have seen this behaviour (in previous koha versions worked fine) thanks you in advance -- *Hugo Agud - Orex Digital * *www.orex.es <http://www.orex.es>* Director Passatge de la Llançadera, 3 · 08338 Premià de Dalt - Tel: 93 539 40 70 hagud(a)orex.es · http://www.orex.es/ No imprima este mensaje a no ser que sea necesario. Koha Development Opportunity : Display of images in OPAC from multiple sources
by Melissa Clarkson 11 Jun '14

11 Jun '14

Hello everyone, My name is Melissa Clarkson and I am the Team Leader of the Library at the New Zealand Institute of Chartered Accountants. We have been on Koha for 2 ½ years. We have started scanning book cover images that are not available from Amazon to have them available in our OPAC and also our current awareness bulletin. They display great in the bulletin, but in the OPAC it creates formatting issues and looks plain ugly. I have approached Catalyst IT in Wellington New Zealand about this issue, and they have advised that it will take 28 hours. They will work through the bug that is creating this issue. The outcome will be that we can use multiple sources to get the book covers from, including local images uploaded in to Koha. I can't justify paying for all of this given it is 28 hours, so I'm coming to the community to see if you would be interested in contributing to a joint development of this. If you are interested, please respond by email by 4 June 2014, with how many hours you'd be able to contribute to this development. Re: [Koha] US librarians seeking help with Koha APIs
by Joann Ransom 10 Jun '14

Hi James Im not clever enough to answer your question but have forwarded it to the Koha lists because you can't be the first to have hit this issue. Lets cross fingers simeone can help! Cheers jo Sent from Samsung tablet -------- Original message -------- From: James LaRue <jlarue(a)jlarue.com> Date: 08/06/2014 9:22 AM (GMT+12:00) To: Joann Ransom <JoannR(a)tetakere.org.nz> Subject: US librarians seeking help with Koha APIs Hello Joann, I'm Jamie LaRue from Colorado, USA (formerly of Douglas County Libraries), and Ross Balharrie recommended that I talk with you. Colorado is working on a statewide ebook content management platform. That's well underway, but we've hit a snag in our attempts to integrate the product with a Koha-based consortium. The administrator of that system don't have a lot of experience with APIs. It's probably too late for us to find a magic solution to accomplish this by the time our grant is up, but I wonder if you might have some suggestions for programmers who do have that expertise? This is the perfect prototype for an international cooperation, and Koha is very definitely picking up speed here. I'd appreciate any leads you might provide.
