Deleting journal issues
by Ivana Pazur 21 Sep '14

21 Sep '14

Hi everyone, I am new with Koha and I have been trying to delete journal issues/items. (I can not find this option in Koha manual) I used Edit serials - and chosen status delete. The journal issue was deleted but the next issue is immediately generated. How can I delete issue without generation of a next issue? I ended up with some issues which are way ahead and I can not delete them. They even have, as a status, expected option as the only option. Koha version is 3.02 U would appreciate any help. Sincerely, Ivana

Overdue notices
by Steven Nickerson 20 Sep '14

20 Sep '14

Hello folks, After a recent upgrade to the package version of 3.16.03 it seems as though Overdue Notices are behaving differently than they used to and I'm wondering if we can make them work the way we're accustomed to, and if not can someone please tell us how to print them? It used to be that our Library Director would get those overdue notices for which we did not have a patron email address delivered to her at her email account and she would print them and deliver them from there. Now it appears that she is only getting a CC: email for those notices for which we have a valid patron email address. So, can I configure Koha so that she gets all notices that we have no email address for like we used to? And if not, how do we go about seeing the queue of ones waiting to be printed (I can see their 'message_transport_type' is "print" and their 'status' is "pending" in the message_queue table)? Thank you as always! Steve

Koha users in Austria
by Witoszynskyj Stephan 20 Sep '14

20 Sep '14

Hi, I was wondering if there are any Austrian Koha users on the list. According to the wiki there’s only one library (the UNIDO library) using Koha. However, there might be others (like ours :-) ). It would be nice to get in touch. We are a small church library (Ukrainian greek-catholic church) located in Vienna. Our emphasis is providing migrants from Ukraine an opportunity to read books in their mother-toungue, catering to the spiritual needs of our community and being a resource to anyone interested in Ukrainian culture. We started using Koha a couple of months ago and are still in the implementation phase (and not online yet). Cheers, Stephan

Questions concerning customization & localization of OPAC main page
by Stephan Witoszynskyj 20 Sep '14

" <koha(a)lists.katipo.co.nz> Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable Mime-Version: 1.0 (1.0) Hi, I've got a few questions concerning customization and localization of the OP= AC start page. First of all here's the info regarding my installation: Koha 3= .16, bootstrap theme with three languages activated. My first question is the following: I'm aware of the areas that can be fille= d with content and that I can enter content in HTML in the global system par= ameters page. Is there a way that I can make this content "language aware"? E= .g. by a JavaScript that the determines the language that Koha uses for the O= PAC. One thing that I'm thinking of is dynamic content that is generated by s= ome JavaScript code. My second question is: I'm thinking of using "localized" sub domains e.g. li= brary.whatever.com and bibliothek.whatever.com would it be possible that som= eone accessing the OPAC via the English sub domain name sees the OPAC in Eng= lish and someone who accesses the German sub domain sees the OPAC in German?= Regards,=20 Stephan=

Re: [Koha] Default to logged in branch vs "all branches'
by BRANNON, CHRISTOPHER 19 Sep '14

Kyle, Sorry for jumping in late here. For what it is worth, I am one of the advocates for not having the "All Libraries" be the default in most places. With that said, there are a couple ways I would approach a resolution with something of this nature. First, I would put another dreaded preference to control this behavior. As some multi-branch or single library systems may prefer only dealing with the "All Libraries" settings, and other do not, it would be great to have the ability to switch this behavior. Second, I would make the "All Libraries" settings stand out from the individual libraries. For example, if "All Libraries" is selected in the notices, perhaps the font or the dropdown box changes color to red or yellow on the main and editing pages. It should be more obvious than a couple of words on the page. Hope this helps. Examples of this are the circulation rules, slips and notices, overdue status triggers, etc. Some librarians would like the default view to be the library's rules, rather than the "all libraries" rules. The idea being that this would stop librarians from editing the "all libraries" rules by accident. The two bugs in question are: Bug 11625 - Default to logged in library for circ rules and notices & slips http://bugs.koha-community.org/bugzilla3/show_bug.cgi?id=11625 Bug 11747 - Default to logged in library for Overdue notice/status triggers http://bugs.koha-community.org/bugzilla3/show_bug.cgi?id=11747 Please let us know how you feel about this! Kyle

I have tried using differing urls library library-intra etc I would appear that apache does not have this virtual site set up correctly I am wondering what I can do to resolve it I installed koha on an existing apache web server, Ubunti 12.04 lts Thanks
