Hello everyone, in a Debian Squeeze installation Koha works slow and I can see cpu usage is mysql is 100%. Recently the site was down for too many connections and I change max_connections=500 and OK. Now there are 20 connections (sleep) from same kobli user to DB. How could I reduce this cpu usage? Thanks in avance _____________________________________ *Manuel Cuesta Álvaro* manucuest(a)gmail.com http://manucuesta.es

No patron categories defined
by Margo Duncan 28 Sep '14

When creating new patrons we have just stared receiving the error "There are no patron categories defined. Please add a patron category." (which links to /admin/categorie.pl). We have 17 patron categories defined (and have been adding patrons for years). Any suggestions on where to start troubleshooting are welcome! We're running 3.14.09 on Debian. Patron Card Images pixelated in PDF
by Prof. Lisandro Laura 28 Sep '14

28 Sep '14

Hi everyone! I am new with Koha and I have been trying to print decent Patron Cards but the result is not filling out my expectations. Patron images and library logo are pixelated despite size, DPI and format (jpg png). Patron images on screen are good looking quality, but pixelated when processing batch in the resulting PDF. I have been googling around with no luck. I am running Koha 3.16 over Ubuntu 12.04 LTS (updated the system a few days ago with apt-get). The version of Koha is: 3.16.03.000 Ubuntu is 12.04 LTS Server (i386). About the images, we use several... last attempt was png 200x300px, 300dpi. We also try 1600x2192px 300dpi with no results. Is there some fix resolution for images that works? Any ideas? Thank you in advance, Lisandro

[Security advisory] For 'dev' installs (CVE-2014-6271)
by Tomas Cohen Arazi 27 Sep '14

27 Sep '14

A couple emails have been sent to the list on this regard (thanks Robin, Chris and Steven). It is important that you know that most Koha deployments are not exposed to this vulnerability (CVE-2014-6271 <http://www.csoonline.com/article/2687265/application-security/remote-exploi…>). ONLY 'dev' installs are vulnerable. In order to avoid this vulnerability, 'dev' installs should add the following to their Apache virtualhost definitions: RedirectMatch 403 \.sh$ If you don't know *where* to put this, mine looked like this (and yours should too): #### Options +FollowSymLinks # If you are overriding any system preferences, # list them in this variable so the preference editor # knows that they have been overridden. # SetEnv OVERRIDE_SYSPREF_NAMES "Pref1,Pref2,Pref3" RedirectMatch 403 \.sh$ ErrorDocument 400 /cgi-bin/koha/errors/400.pl ### Please contact any of us in private (I prefer IRC) if you have more doubts specific to your setup. ==== To sumarize: - Know that Koha is not vulnerable to this bug on most of its deployment forms: * Packages: SAFE * Source install (tar.gz/git/gitify): - standard: SAFE - single: SAFE - dev: UNSAFE - Make sure your operating system has the latest bash update installed. Just keep it updated, frecquently. - There's a solution for 'dev' installs, the one above (add the "RedirectMatch 403 \.sh$" line to your vhosts definition). Shellshock
by Steven Nickerson 27 Sep '14

27 Sep '14

With the finding of the most recent "Shellshock" vulnerability with the BASH shell, I'm wondering If Koha uses the BASH shell in any way? I'm pretty sure it does not, but just wanted to make sure. I realize that the Linux system Koha is running on likely has the BASH shell that probably has the vulnerability, but I'm just trying to ascertain if a potential hacker could get to system through the Koha application. Thanks! Steve

Re: [Koha] Comment: Koha Community Code of Conduct

Well, yes, that's my point really. By the simple definition given in the CoC every comment on the enumerated items is harassing. "Harassment includes...comments related to gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race or religion."
