Unique item fields
by Lenora Oftedahl 15 Dec '14

15 Dec '14

Some of you may remember that I asked a while back about where you set MARC fields to have unique entries, as in the case of barcodes. The setting is in Acquisitions system preferences in 3.18. Still not sure where that's found in 3.06 anymore. In 3.18, the default is set to barcode with the option to add more fields separated by spaces. So, I've added notes from the biblio table. Is this going to break anything? Does anyone else have more than one unique entry field? I'm testing now and will report results, but thought if someone else has already tested, I might save some time. Thanx. Lenora StreamNet Regional Library Columbia River Inter-Tribal Fish Commission

Help- Regarding Circulation Rules with Item Types.
by SATISH 15 Dec '14

15 Dec '14

Need Suggestions for : New Item Type or New Koha Instance. Background- Our Library has following scenario : Patrons: categorized as: 1. Regular (General) Students & 2. Backward Category Students. Collections: Two set of collections are maintained, 1. General Stocks - for ALL Students. (including backward category) 2. Book Bank ( Special Collections ONLY for Backward Category Students) Circulation Rules: 1. Regular Students can borrow books only from General Stocks but not from Book Bank. 2. Backward Category Students can barrow books from both General Stocks and Book Bank Currently, check-in/check-out is by providing separate backward student id card along with regular common id card. My Questions is: Can above said Circulation criteria be fulfilled either by creating a new Item Type - "Book Bank" and adding records to it, along with default item type : Books and then create a circulation rules for both the item types. OR New Instance of Koha (separate database) for Book Bank Library to be created (along with existing one for general stocks)? At present, I have completed updating bibliorecords for the General Stocks and used to issue-return books from General Stock (for Regular + Backward students). But, I am not sure about, proceeding for accommodating only backward students category for getting books from Book Bank Library through koha. Your suggestions are valuable for me and much appreciated. with thanks Satish MV Librarian Govt. Engineering College, Hassan. Karnataka. --

3.18 & high CPU utilisation
by Iming Chan 14 Dec '14

14 Dec '14

Dear all, Has anyone noticed much higher CPU utilisation after upgraded to 3.18? Since our upgrade from 3.16, our CPU utilisation is constantly around 80% instead of the 20% when running the previous version. This is also after we changed from GRS1 to DOM indexing. Nothing else have changed as far as the system settings are concerned. We still have javascript in place to stop Google robot trolling our OPAC (same script as from 3.16). This morning, we couldn't even access Koha due to this issue! Koha 3.18 - CSS information
by Craig Butosi 12 Dec '14

12 Dec '14

Hi Everyone, Relatively new to CSS customization and am learning the backend of Koha (latest version installed) on my own. Where would I look for the template information for Koha's bootstrap theme? I would like to use and apply the CSS information already contained in 3.18 to new code that requires CSS styling (e.g., a CSS left-hand menu in opacnavleft for hyperlinks. I'd like to keep font styles, headings, font weights, etc. as uniform as possible throughout the catalogue while coding. Should I use Firefox's "inspect element" feature, navigate to one of the template files on my server, etc.? How do you familiarize yourself with, and use as quick reference, Koha CSS? I hope this question is clear - it may also be a question with an obvious answer. Happy to provide clarification! Many thanks everyone! Best, Craig Butosi, MA, MLIS, B Mus (Hons.) Re: [Koha] Biblios not found after reindexing.
by Mahesh Angadi 12 Dec '14

Dear Koha Users, I had faced similiar problem after upgrade through koha-common. After several attempts, I found the exact solution at the below website link:- https://www.marshut.net/ktshsn/search-biblios-not-found-after-reindexing.ht… Please add the four tag lines specified in above hyperlink at the end of koha-conf.xml file (before </config>). After this rebuild zebra. Hopefully this should solve the problem. -- Mr. Mahesh M. Angadi, Librarian, Model College, Dombivli (E). Re: [Koha] Catalogue - SQL Report Help (Paul A)
by Matthew Charlesworth, S.J. 12 Dec '14

Dear Paul, Heather and Kerrie, Thank you for the report. I've also tweaked it slightly to allow direct interaction with the records in the Staff Interface (using example of CONCAT with A HREF and TITLE codes). (NB Distinguish between ' and "). I attach it here in case you might find it useful. I'm stuck with trying to get a version of the report that only shows 0 copies or copies greater than 1 (or to use the input technique to specify by x number of Copies)... I've tried the WHERE Copies=0 clause but that doesn't seem to work... SELECT DISTINCT CONCAT('<a title="Search for Title with Biblionumber: ',b.biblionumber,'" href="/cgi-bin/koha/catalogue/search.pl?q=ti%3A',REPLACE (b.title, ' ', '+'),'">Search</a>') AS "Search for Title", b.biblionumber, CONCAT('<a href="/cgi-bin/koha/catalogue/detail.pl?biblionumber=',b.biblionumber,'">',b.title,'</a>') AS "Item Title", b.author, t.editionstatement, t.publishercode, t.isbn, count(i.itemnumber) AS "Copies" FROM biblio b LEFT JOIN biblioitems t USING(biblionumber) LEFT JOIN items i USING(biblionumber) GROUP BY b.biblionumber ORDER BY Copies ASC Regards Matthew. ------------------------------ > > Message: 4 > Date: Thu, 11 Dec 2014 01:19:06 +0000 > From: Kerrie Stevens <KStevens(a)harvest.edu.au> > Subject: Re: [Koha] Catalogue - SQL Report Help (Paul A) > > SELECT DISTINCT b.biblionumber, b.title, b.author, t.editionstatement, > t.publishercode, t.isbn, i.ccode, count(i.itemnumber) FROM biblio b LEFT > JOIN > biblioitems t USING(biblionumber) LEFT JOIN items i USING(biblionumber) > WHERE i.ccode=<<Enter collection code>> GROUP BY b.biblionumber > > Thanks so much for your sharing of this report. > > Kerrie Stevens >
