ًQuestions about 952 Field
by Jesse Lambertson 29 May '15

29 May '15

Curious, What kinds of issues have people run into relative to the adding of 952 to records or the importation of these records into KOHA? I mean, is it better to add local holding info and barcode data into KOHA directly or is it faster to have already added this info already? I ask because I am using Connexion to create records for import into KOHA eventually (when we get our KOHA up & running - which is happening pretty soon now I think). I have been adding 952 to the records with barcodes, but will this data restrict my importation into KOHA? Thank you & have a great weekend everyone. CAS Authentication
by leaspag 28 May '15

28 May '15

Hi! Recently, we decided to use Koha at my University and I'm trying to integrate our CAS auth server with Koha but I keep getting this error "Sorry, CAS login failed". CAS generates a valid ticket but Koha does not login. In Koha's intranet, casServerUrl is OK and I add "http://" at the beginning of OPACBaseURL. Also the user that I am trying to login exists in Koha database. I updated the version of Koha to 3.18 but the error persists. Do you know what could it be the problem? The code does stuff on port 8000, but the messages talk about port 8080. I think in general 8080 is the more common port to set up secondary webservices on. The last echo writes and then immediately opens an editor to the file, so you wouldn't know what you need to do with it. If it did show the message, it would ask them to change the port, and then open firefox, assuming that it hadn't been changed. Also, if they did change it, it now wouldn't match the "Listen" line added near the top. This looks like a reasonable quick-start to get a Koha server up, though. It won't give you nice things like name-based addressing that you'd probably want in a production server, but they'd be easy enough to add on after the fact. -- Robin Sheat Catalyst IT Ltd. ✆ +64 4 803 2204 GPG: 5FA7 4B49 1E4D CAA4 4C38 8505 77F5 B724 F871 3BDF

items not importing
by Jennifer Perry 28 May '15

28 May '15

Hi all. New Koha user here, looking for some advice. When first experimenting with Koha I installed it on a virtual machine on my laptop and used that to create all of the MARC records and items. Now it is time to migrate all of the data over to a real server set up by our IT department. The problem is that none of the items are importing into the new Koha instance. While doing the staging of the MARC records I can see that it has found ~1300 MARC records and slightly more item records. But none of the items are showing up when searching (even allowing a long delay for the zebra index to get rebuilt). When the IT guys set up the new server they did not use the exact same library branch name, etc, as I did in my testing. Could Koha be ignoring the items because of this mismatch? Is there a way to make Koha import these items even if the 952$a and 952$b subfields don't quite line up? Thanks, Jennifer Perry

It is tested on server and running well. The port 8000 is automatically added at the bottom of file and it does not affect the installation. The script is written considering those people who finds difficulty in installation specially dealing with Linux OS. Working with Linux OS is a still big challenge for people working in small libraries. Since, they don't have any good ILMS so they opt Koha for housekeeping operation. I personally have conducted many training and workshop and found that installation of Koha itself is a big challenge for them. The information given on sites is not self explanatory for installation. Thanks for your advice and comments.
