System treating patron secondary email as mandatory and complaining even with valid email address
by Admire Mutsikiwa 12 Jan '16

12 Jan '16

Hi All I have upgraded my Koha instance from version 3.18 to 3.22. Now when updating patron records that have expired, the system is complaining if the secondary email is empty and yet it is not mandatory. In addition, if there is valid email, it is also complaining that it is invalid until you edit it somehow, that is when it will save the record. Any pointers to resolve this. Re: [Koha] [Koha-bugs] [Bug 15547] New: Location for stored OPAC header images
by Owen Leonard 11 Jan '16

11 Jan '16

I'm responding here to a bug report because I think it's more of a support issue. > We are currently customising our OPAC page and notice that Koha requires images > to be stored at an https: address. Please could you advise how and where I > should upload these images so that they can be displayed on our OPAC? Koha doesn't require that your images be stored anywhere in particular. However if your Koha catalog runs over https and your images are hosted at a non-https location, the user's browser might give them "mixed content" warnings. I'm guessing this is what you're seeing? If you don't have the ability to upload your images to a location somewhere on your domain where they can be accessed via https perhaps you could ask your Koha support provider to place the images on the same server as Koha? -- Owen -- Web Developer Athens County Public Libraries http://www.myacpl.org

Re: [Koha] Koha Digest, Vol 123, Issue 12
by مسعود محمد الشريف 11 Jan '16

11 Jan '16

Hello Most likely this error is due to few Arabic translation mistakes which are corrected already in the translated files but wont be available in the Koha 3.22 release package until next Koha 3.22.02 release. Therefore, and until then, we are providing the following fix to those who cannot wait: 1- Download a new copy of the Arabic translation files from this link: http://repository.maktabat-online.com/handle/123456789/12971 2- Copy those files (unzipped) to this folder: /.../koha/misc/translator/po 3- Move to this path: cd /.../koha/misc/translator/ 4- Execute the following commands: export KOHA_CONF=/etc/koha/koha-conf.xml export PERL5LIB=/usr/share/koha/lib ./translate install ar-Arab 5- Enjoy a nice ride with Arabic Koha 3.22.01 free of error msgs. Introduction + problem on user side in arabic
by Starks 10 Jan '16

10 Jan '16

Hi Everyone,My name is India Starker and we are considering using Koha for a small library of 1000 books for a theatre group in Afir, Algeria. I am a semi-retired (lol) engineer, speak French and English, not Arabic and *not* a librarian. I learned that MARC existed yesterday. ;-) I just installed Koha 3.22 for testing on an Amazon EC2 cloud servier running Debian 8 Jessie. I added both French and Arabic before the web installer as explained here <http://wiki.koha-community.org/wiki/Installation_of_additional_languages_fo…> . admin@ip-172-31-27-82:~$ sudo koha-translate --install fr-FR admin@ip-172-31-27-82:~$ sudo koha-translate --install ar-Arab I chose French during the install and installed all the available data (such as templates). It all went swimmingly (the second time, since the first time I hadn't installed the languages) except on the user side in Arabic: The intranet (admin) displays fine in all three languages and I am delighted to find French categories of borrowers ready to go.But when you choose Arabic on the login page for borrowers (the OPAC), I get this: Template process failed: file error - parse error - masthead-langmenu.inc line 2-5: unexpected token (%<li) [% IF ( ( opaclanguagesdisplay ) && ( ! one_language_enabled ) && ( languages_loop ) && ( OpacLangSelectorMode == 'both' || OpacLangSelectorMode == 'top') ) %<li class="dropdown"> / <#> / اللغات ** [% FOREACH languages_loo IN languages_loop.sort('rfc4646_subtag') %] at /usr/share/koha/lib/C4/Templates.pm line 121. What should I do?(I have temporarily unchecked Arabic for opac languages in system preferences.) Thanks in advance. If anyone wants a user/pass just ask. -- View this message in context: http://koha.1045719.n5.nabble.com/Introduction-problem-on-user-side-in-arab… Sent from the Koha-general mailing list archive at Nabble.com.

Htaccess file and Koha Staff Client Login (Port 8080)
by Craig Butosi 09 Jan '16

09 Jan '16

Hi all, Has anyone on this list secured their Port 8080 Koha staff client with .htaccess? If so, may I ask under what directory you actually stored the file on your server? I'm thinking of adding an extra layer of security to my staff client, but need some preliminary info first about using .htaccess / .htpasswd. Many thanks! Craig Butosi, MA, MLIS, B Mus (Hons.)
