Show analytics
by Hugo Agud 18 Jan '16

18 Jan '16

Good morning we have found a strange behaviour of show analytics in Koha, checking the code it seems that OPAC shows the link 'Show analytics" based on position leader 7 = s In fact that position shows define the record as is a serial, but it can include analytics or not. For other instances we have modified the code to check another field, one used when we add some analytics to the record, but it is a little weird. I wish to ask you how other sites are mananing the link to analytics from the hosting record, let koha shows always the link? or have you got any tip to show only if analytics are catalogued. We have checked this behaviour in version 3.14.7 and in 3.22.x, I guess it is in all versions of koha. koha authorities

I have been trying to run the koha-auth facility that is supposed to generate authority records. See below error from my code inveniouser@inveniosrv:~/.cpanm/work/1439883119.26275/Koha-Contrib-Tamil-0.040/share/etc$ sudo koha-auth create_from_biblio /home/inveniouser/.cpanm/work/1439879750.23982/Koha-Contrib-Tamil-0.040/share/etc/auth-marc21.conf authorities.txt Create authorities from biblio records source: Koha DB target: authorities.txt temporary file: authorities.txt.b5er Start process... We're at version 3.18 and the previous version was at least two years old, but I didn't note it down. The About page show this error: Zebra server seems not to be available. Is it started? When I re-index I get these errors: .error retrieving biblio 314 at /usr/share/koha/bin/migration_tools/rebuild_zebra.pl line 679. .error retrieving biblio 315 at /usr/share/koha/bin/migration_tools/rebuild_zebra.pl line 679. .error retrieving biblio 316 at /usr/share/koha/bin/migration_tools/rebuild_zebra.pl line 679. .error retrieving biblio 317 at /usr/share/koha/bin/migration_tools/rebuild_zebra.pl line 679. .error retrieving biblio 318 at /usr/share/koha/bin/migration_tools/rebuild_zebra.pl line 679. .error retrieving biblio 319 at /usr/share/koha/bin/migration_tools/rebuild_zebra.pl line 679. .error retrieving biblio 320 at /usr/share/koha/bin/migration_tools/rebuild_zebra.pl line 679. .error retrieving biblio 321 at /usr/share/koha/bin/migration_tools/rebuild_zebra.pl line 679. .error retrieving biblio 322 at /usr/share/koha/bin/migration_tools/rebuild_zebra.pl line 679. .error retrieving biblio 323 at /usr/share/koha/bin/migration_tools/rebuild_zebra.pl line 679. .error retrieving biblio 324 at /usr/share/koha/bin/migration_tools/rebuild_zebra.pl line 679. .error retrieving biblio 325 at /usr/share/koha/bin/migration_tools/rebuild_zebra.pl line 679. .error retrieving biblio 326 at /usr/share/koha/bin/migration_tools/rebuild_zebra.pl line 679. .error retrieving biblio 327 at /usr/share/koha/bin/migration_tools/rebuild_zebra.pl line 679. Import Question
by Shell, Lezlie 15 Jan '16

15 Jan '16

I have a question about batchImportMARCWithBiblionumbers.pl I found a reference to this in a 2010 email. The scenario described, a library needing to retain their current control numbers as biblionumbers to continue connecting to outside databases, is the same thing we need to do. Unfortunately, I didn't see an answer to the question. The description of the script, "small script to import an iso2709 file into Koha with existing biblionumbers in marc record" made me wonder if I was importing a marc file into a clean database, if I had our current control number in the 001, if this script would use this value as the biblionumber. I know there are a lot of "ifs", but am I on the right track? Thanks, Lezlie Questia

Re: [Koha] Announcing Donor Tracking Plugin for Koha
by Bob Ewart 13 Jan '16

13 Jan '16

We use the patron data already in Koha; names, addresses,... We export from QuickBooks via an Excel file. It can be any accounting package which can export to Excel, we started with Peachtree Accounting. The important thing to link the two packages is having the Koha card number (not patron number) in an exportable field in your accounting package. We use the customer number to link the accounting data to the patron. You will need to do some preparation in setting up the accounting account numbers/descriptions and whether they are tax deductible. (In the US donations are deductible and book sales are not. At the end of the year you can generate letters to each patron showing how much was tax deductible.) There is also some set up needed for patron types and attributes. See the documentation with the plugin. Once that is done, just export all income to an Excel file and upload it to the plugin. Versions: 1. Separate web-site (host:18080) written in PHP and hard coded to the Peachtree export. The accounting data was stored in the Koha database. 2. Separate web-site re-written in Perl and hard coded to QuickBooks export. Otherwise same as 1 3. Re-written in Perl as a plugin. All the hard coded things were parameterized so that you could tailor it to your needs. There is a bit of a learning curve, but over the years we've been through a number of Office Managers and several Executive Directors who have all found it to be very useful. We've made a number of changes to solve specific needs. How do we...? Generally do it this way..., occasionally we had to make some code changes. The only major downside is in the coding style. Over the years my Perl skills improved so early code which didn't need to be changed looks different from later code. But that won't affect the use of the plugin. I encourage you to try it and let me know how it goes. I'll be happy to answer any questions as you get into it. -- Bob Ewart On 01/13/2016 11:50 AM, catalog(a)bfli.org wrote: > Bob, > > I was interested to read your post on the donor tracking plugin.
