opac search results
by Furrukh Hussain Zai 27 Aug '16

27 Aug '16

Dear All, I have staged mrc batches of other items first and then books and koha is displaying search results as per biblionumbers unless I limit item type in advanced search! Now how would I configure opac to display books first, then other items when someone perform a simple search by keyword, title, etc. Regards, Furrukh

Why Koha does not print slashes in the call number while printing spine labels.
by Indranil Das Gupta 27 Aug '16

27 Aug '16

Hi all, Quite often (new) Koha users find themselves stumbling while attempting to print spine labels from within Koha. Typically when item call numbers have a front slash "/" in them e.g. the call number 891.44 BAN/T gets printed out as 891.44 BANT. This blog post looks into the topic of Koha "eating up" the slashes in the call number, why it actually shows that Koha is being standards compliant (to Library of Congress, OCLC) and what you can do about it - http://blog.l2c2.co.in/index.php/2016/08/26/koha-spine-label-is-not-printin… shared in hopes this will answer more than a few people's query on the topic cheers, Indranil Das Gupta L2C2 Technologies Phone : +91-98300-20971 Blog : http://blog.l2c2.co.in IRC : indradg on irc://irc.freenode.net Twitter : indradg

Re: [Koha] biblio.biblionumber and biblioitems.biblioitemnumber fields
by BibliothèqueIMP 26 Aug '16

Hi Tommaso, I am sorry I was not clear enough. 1) Go to edit your marc framework using the following path: Home › Administration › MARC frameworks › Default framework structure › Tag 001 subfield structure › Edit subfields constraints. 2) In Basic constraints got to Managed in tab menu and set it to ignored. 3) Save changes 4) Do the same (1,2,3) for Tag 090a. Now your framework test warning should not appear. Actually, it is a false warning as Fridolin Somers says in http://koha.1045719.n5.nabble.com/Please-help-biblio-and-biblionumber-td577…. However, it is a headache for someone who is not aware of it. I think we must file a bug if you confirm the correction procedure above. It worked for us (we are running Koha 16.05), I hope it works for you. Regards, Monk Prodromos Library of the Holy Monastery of Paraklitos

Global system preferences changes not taking effect completely
by Dalton Fury 26 Aug '16

26 Aug '16

Hi, I would like to report some strange behavior. It is a bit long story (feel free to skip to the last three paragraphs), but please tell me what you think about what is happening. Initially we were running Koha 3.22.08. Due to some unrelated reasons, we had to remove and reinstall koha. So we ran "koha-run-backups", and then did an apt-get --purge remove koha-common followed by installing the package again. Everything seemed smooth except the fact that the circulation history get's deleted when books are checked back in. Fearing that something has gone wrong, we did a koha-restore. But koha-restore always failed because the user 'myInstanceName-koha' already exists. I manually tried removing the user using userdel, but it could not be removed because some other processing was logged in as the same user. Even rebooting did not work, so I uninstalled koha, rebooted, deleted the user and then installed back koha. This time, koha-restore worked fine except for a lot of "ERROR: File exists ". Now the problem is that whenever I change any value in the global system preferences, it does not fully take effect. So it takes effect half the time when I reload the page, and half the times it does not. For example, if I allowed batch checkout to a category, it is allowed half the times I try to do a batch checkout, and half the time, it is denied. But rebooting the system results in the changes reflecting permanently. I am very concerned as to weather I have done something wrong. Please tell me what you think is happening. Or is this some new bug in koha that everyone is experiencing? Thanks!

Hi, what do you mean with "IGNORED"? I couldn't get rid of that warning but I assumed, from here: http://koha.1045719.n5.nabble.com/Please-help-biblio-and-biblionumber-td577… that it is not influent (hope so...) Messaging Preferences - Help
by SATISH 26 Aug '16

26 Aug '16

Dear All, Previously Koha 3.16 installed (later upgraded to 16.5.00.000) from packages method on Ubuntu 12.4 LTS (later upgraded to 14.4) and Postfix has been configured for smtp and Koha is working fine. ******** when new patron registration is done, email is sent to respective patrons. and "Messaging Preferences" set through Home › Patrons ›Specific Patron, (individually) is also working. 1. Individually enabling messaging preference is laborious task, and the Messaging Preferences are set / selected using "Home › Administration › Patron categories" - Item Due, Item Checkin, Item Checkout or any kind of emails are not sending. 2.Also there is no registration email has been sent when bulk import of patrons (for the new batch) using Home › Tools › Import patrons. But, email is sent when individually patron is registered. Is there any global system preference enabled to function this feature? or anybody else has faced the same issue?? or did I set anything wrong? Please advice. With Thanks. Satish MV Librarian Govt.
