Hi, When i see KOHA ABOUT its says:Zebra service is not running But when we try to restart o star using koha-zebra-restart or start: say Zebra is already running? Where is the problem? Is this the cause (maybe) why we have to run the koha-rebuild every morning? -- *Luis Moisés Rojas P.*

Allow on shelf reserves
by Bob Birchall 07 Mar '17

07 Mar '17

The documentation of the circulation rules (manual section 3.2.1) states: "Next you can decide if this patron/item combo are allowed to place holds on items that are on the shelf (or available in the library) or not. If you choose 'no' then items can only be placed on hold if checked out." This implies the behaviour is Yes/No. However, in the circulation rules matrix, for the 'On shelf reserves allowed' column the options are: - yes - if any unavailable - if all unavailable Can anyone point me to the bugzilla entry that changed this behaviour? I'd like to update the doco. Thanks, Bob Birchall Calyx

Fields B_address and B_address2 of Patrons' File Does Not Display Content when I Create Patron Card
by OLUFUNMILAYO FATI 06 Mar '17

06 Mar '17

Hello All, I have put <B_address> <B_Address2> in the text box of one of the fields in "Edit Layout" Window. When I opened the resulting PDF file generated from managing batches, exact texts in the field's text box were returned just as they were input instead of displaying the values in the fields. However, when I input <address> in the textbox of the same field, and I ran the Batch export, it display the correct values. What could be wrong with the fields <B_address> and <B_Address2>. Any help about this please? Your advice will be appreciated. Thank you. Olufunmilayo FATI University of Jos Library Nigeria

Re: [Koha] Publisher Authority Type
by Hernandez, Heather 04 Mar '17

04 Mar '17

Hi, Krishna! The data in the 260 field (or the 264) is transcribed data--it should be transcribed from the item, and may not be the same as the authorized form of the publisher's name in the authority file. For example, a book may have on the title page (made up example): "Oxford at the University Press 2016." This could be transcribed as: 260 _ _ $a Oxford : $b University Press, $c 2016. But the authorized form of the name of this publisher in the authority file in OCLC & the Library of Congress is: 110 2_ Oxford University Press. So the record would have a 710 field with the authorized form of the name for searching, access, etc.: 710 2_ Oxford University Press. The 260 $b and the 710 may be identical, but not necessarily. The transcription becomes important when trying to identify particular editions, printings, etc., especially in special collections, with rare materials, etc. I hope this helps clarify!
