Authorities linking problem
by Andreas Roussos 15 Mar '17

15 Mar '17

Dear List, We are running koha 16.05.02 on Debian from packages with Unimarc flavor. We usually create authorities by editing or creating biblio records. In system preferences, we have set both "AutoCreateAuthorities" and "BiblioAddsAuthorities" to "allow", while "CatalogModuleRelink", "LinkerKeepStale" and "LinkerRelink" to "do not". However, while editing a biblio record, if we enter a new authority (e.g. Plato, 427-347 BC – Criticism and interpretation [a.n.: ?]) that resembles an existing one (Plato, 427-347 BC [a.n.: 605]), koha links to the biblio record the existing authority (via its [a.n.] authority number), instead of creating a new one, and leaves the newly entered details in the biblio record, but with the old authority number (e.g. Plato, 427-347 BC – Criticism and interpretation [a.n.: 605]). To avoid this we are misspelling the new authority and correcting it afterwards. This of course is very confusing and time consuming. Any guidance would be very much appreciated. Kind regards, Andreas Roussos Systems Administrator Holy Monastery of the Paraclete

I have done everything you told me. If it is a field which is emply: Which one? What is the name of the table where the information of the patron card data is saved? *There is not logic* -- *Luis Moisés Rojas P.* <https://www.avast.com/sig-email?utm_medium=email&utm_source=link&utm_campai…> Libre de virus. www.avast.com <https://www.avast.com/sig-email?utm_medium=email&utm_source=link&utm_campai…> <#DAB4FAD8-2DD7-40BB-A1B8-4E2AA1F9FDF2>

Re: [Koha] Koha 16.05 - XSLT (OpacDetails) - Help with XSLT stanza - Uniform Titles

Hi all, Had a 'Eureka!' moment. Posting for the community. The following works:  <xsl:if test="marc:datafield[@tag=240]"> Uniform title: <xsl:for-each select="marc:datafield[@tag=240]"> <a> <xsl:choose> <xsl:when test="marc:subfield[@code=9]"> <xsl:attribute name="href">/cgi-bin/koha/opac-search.pl?q=an:<xsl:value-of select="marc:subfield[@code=9]"/></xsl:attribute> </xsl:when> <xsl:otherwise> <xsl:attribute name="href">/cgi-bin/koha/opac-search.pl?q=ut:<xsl:for-each select="marc:subfield"> <xsl:if test="contains('adfghklmnoprst',@code)"> <xsl:value-of select="text()"/> <xsl:text> </xsl:text> </xsl:if> </xsl:for-each> </xsl:attribute> </xsl:otherwise> </xsl:choose> <xsl:call-template name="chopPunctuation"> <xsl:with-param name="chopString"> <xsl:call-template name="subfieldSelect"> <xsl:with-param name="codes">adfghklmnoprs</xsl:with-param> </xsl:call-template> </xsl:with-param> </xsl:call-template> </a> <xsl:choose> <xsl:when test="position()=last()"></xsl:when> <xsl:otherwise> | </xsl:otherwise> </xsl:choose> </xsl:for-each> </xsl:if> The code between the <xsl:otherwise> tags allows for all specified 240 subfields to be included in the search query: E.g., "http://yourdomain.org/cgi-bin/koha/opac-search.pl?q=ut:Sonata, piano, op. 26", instead of just "http:// yourdomain.org /cgi-bin/koha/opac-search.pl?q=ut:Sonata," C Craig Butosi, MA, MLIS, B Mus (Hons.) I'm working (ever so painfully slow) on a custom xslt stanza for our 240s. I want this field to be hyperlinked in the OPAC, so, I have this:  <xsl:if test="marc:datafield[@tag=240]"> Uniform title: <xsl:for-each select="marc:datafield[@tag=240]"> <a> <xsl:choose> <xsl:when test="marc:subfield[@code=9]"> <xsl:attribute name="href">/cgi-bin/koha/opac-search.pl?q=an:<xsl:value-of select="marc:subfield[@code=9]"/></xsl:attribute> </xsl:when> <xsl:otherwise> <xsl:attribute name="href">/cgi-bin/koha/opac-search.pl?q=ut:<xsl:value-of select="marc:subfield[@code='a']"/></xsl:attribute> </xsl:otherwise> </xsl:choose> <xsl:call-template name="chopPunctuation"> <xsl:with-param name="chopString"> <xsl:call-template name="subfieldSelect"> <xsl:with-param name="codes">adfghklmnoprs</xsl:with-param> </xsl:call-template> </xsl:with-param> </xsl:call-template> </a> <xsl:choose> <xsl:when test="position()=last()"></xsl:when> <xsl:otherwise> | </xsl:otherwise> </xsl:choose> </xsl:for-each> </xsl:if> However, the above only searches on $a of the 240, making the search far too broad. I would like to have it include most 240 subfields (i.e., adfghklmnoprs) on the search, so the latter is more targeted. How do I do that in this stanza? I've tried to edit: <xsl:attribute name="href">/cgi-bin/koha/opac-search.pl?q=ut:<xsl:value-of select="marc:subfield[@code='a']"/></xsl:attribute> to read <xsl:attribute name="href">/cgi-bin/koha/opac-search.pl?q=ut:<xsl:value-of select="marc:subfield[@code=' adfghklmnoprs ']"/></xsl:attribute> to no avail. is koha right for our project run by volunteers?
by Rebecca Shtasel 14 Mar '17

14 Mar '17

Hello We are a small group of volunteers (one of whom is a retired school librarian) who run our synagogue's library in the UK. We would like to produce an online catalogue and are interesting in using Koha for this purpose as we haven't much money. The library has about 4000 books covering a variety of classifications (fiction, history etc) all related to Judaism. The original accessions book was lost when the library had to be moved a year ago and we have a notebook with handwritten entries for the accessions we have received since the library moved to its new home. Looking at the information to do with koha it appears very technical and we are wondering if we will be able to use it for our catalogue. We would literally be taking books off the shelves to input their information, not importing the data from elsewhere and none of us has anything more than basic computing knowledge. Given this, do you think koha is too complicated for us to use or amongst all the information related to using koha is there a very basic guide that would suit beginners like us? If you think we would struggle using koha, could you advise us on software that you think would be more user-friendly and is not too expensive? Thanking you all very much in advance for any advice you can give. Rebecca (on behalf of the group)
