Countdown for the event “Future of Library Services & Technology Solutions” at Sawai Man Singh Medical College, Jaipur has started. it is with great pleasure that Informatics Publishing Ltd. invites you for the two day event on Koha and related library technologies. The event is being organized by Informatics Publishing Ltd in collaboration with Sawai Man Singh Medical College, Jaipur on 8th and 9th July 2017, at the mentioned institution’s campus. MARC Load Error

I was hoping to get some direction or more logging for an error please. While staging a MARC records from my old library system, I get "use of uninitialized value $tag in hash" from /usr/share/perl5/MARC/Record.pm line 202. I opened up record.pm at line 202 and the field is I<tagspace>. 245?. I am not sure that field 245 is the problem. This is example from my file (=245 10$aPhantom of the auditorium /$cR.L. Stine.) So staged this file in my other Koha system and it staged fine. So this new Koha instance might have a missing configuration. Thank you,Joseph Lamb

How to get use of asort1 and asort2?

Dear All, How to get use of asort1 and asort2? i entered value in authorized values field for that under asort1 and asort2 but it does not reflect in book data entry under statistics1 and statistics2, however, bsort1 and bsort2 values reflect as drop down under the patron data entry field. Broken image links in Koha manual

Hi On 20 February 2017 I have written the following about Koha 16.11 and the same is still true for Koha 17.05: Koha contains a context-sensitive help function in the staff client at the upper right corner which will open a new window. At the end of every such window there is a link to the manual included. But clicking it will lead to http://manual.koha-community.org/16.11/en/ resp. http://manual.koha-community.org/17.05/en/ In both these manuals THE LINKS TO EVERY SINGLE IMAGE ARE BROKEN. I think if there is a beautiful new manual like https://koha-community.org/manual/17.05/html/ it should be the one that Koha links to (instead of the old manuals with the broken image links). e-books as Koha items

Hi, I've just started populating my library's catalog with e-book readers and e-books. I've defined different item types for either e-readers and e-books, and classified the former as "equipment" and the latter as "monographs" in the appropriate MARC record fields (leader etc). For a given e-reader type (Kindle, say) I may have several items. These are distinct, as they have a different serial number, and receive therefore a distinct barcode. Similarly, they can be borrowed individually. Therefore, they perfectly qualify as "Koha items". On the other hand, an e-book is entered as a specific record (which is distinct from the record of the corresponding hardcopy, if also available), with a cross-link to the e-reader's record in the 773 MARC field. Originally, I thought that no physical item should be attached to an e-book, since it is the e-reader, and not the e-book, which can be borrowed. However, this prevents the e-book to appear in the "Browse shelf" feature, close to books with similar topic (which is very useful for patrons). One solution might be that of restricting the e-book type to "no loan", but then the cross-link to the appropriate e-reader would be contained in the record (Koha's biblioitem), and not in the item (Koha's item), which might be confusing for the patron. Another solution might be that of devising some kind of "virtual items". Several "virtual items" (say, several e-books) could be mapped onto a single (physical) "item", so that whenever the (physical) item is on loan, all of the "virtual items" contained by it are also set "on loan". A "virtual item" could then be shelved, receive a call number etc appropriately, and therefore show consistently in Koha's "browse shelf" feature.
