Koha version for new install

Hi all, I am rolling out a new Koha server / install for one of my elementary buildings. This will be a "start from scratch" install.....they are still using cards. Currently my other 3 installs are on the 17.xxx branch / version..... when I ran the new install (On Debian) the 18.xxx version installed. Any reason for me *not* to run with the 18.xxx branch ? and... Should I be upgrading my 17.xxxx to the 18.xxx ??? If so...are there official path / directions for that ?? Thank you, -S

Cannot restore my old koha db to a new installation

Hello community, I have done a fresh installation of the koha 18.xx but when I tried to restore my old koha(3.xx) db from a MySQL dump I am getting errors on reaching the upgrade schema library. We are using Ubuntu 16 and have also installed MariaDB. The error I am getting is *DBD : :mysql: :db do failed: Table 'koha_cpgslibrary.systempreferences' does not exist [for statement "Select " FROM systempreferences WHERE 1=0" ] at usr/share/koha/lib/koha/Database.pm line 110.* *I also tried without upgrading the schema but I am getting a Dbix error * What should I do to be able to restore back the old db. Para fazer a migração, vc deve instalar o Koha no novo servidor (seu novo computador), e ajustar as configurações para que fiquem iguais às configurações aplicadas no Koha antigo. Após, é preciso fazer a exportação e importação de usuários, catálogo, autoridades... Static and calculated fields in new authorities not shown until you click on them

Dear all, We're using Koha 17.11.06 (USMarc) and our cataloguers have the following request: When creating a new authority, some static fields [like Control Number Idenifier (003)] as well as some 00x fields that are calculated on-the-fly [like Leader(000), Date and time of last transaction (005), Fixed length data elements (008), etc] are not shown until you click on them. I have created a short video to demonstrate this: https://imgur.com/a/dRDhFKr Although this has always been the default behaviour for new bibs, I vaguely remember that the authority fields where shown prefilled by default in old 3.x Koha versions. So, our cataloguers asked if there is an easy way (ie a javascript snippet) to have all required (static and dynamically calculated) fields prefilled and shown by default when creating a new authority (and biblio) because it save them a few 'unnecessary' clicks. Also, this is the default behavior for advanced editor. Maybe you could consider making this the default behavior for the 'classic' biblio/authority editor as well? If you think any of the above requests is valid (and does not conflict with general directions/best practices you might have set), I could create an enhancement request in BZ case to better keep track of it. DBMS auto increment problem

Dear sir/madam We have installed Koha in 16.04 Ubuntu using package method. The koha version installed is 18.05.02.000. mysql Ver 15.1 Distrib 10.0.36-MariaDB, for debian-linux-gnu (x86_64) using readline 5.2. We have come across the problem: Data problems Some of your tables have problems with their auto_increment values which may lead to data loss. *You should not ignore this warning.* The problem is that InnoDB does not keep auto_increment across SQL server restarts (it is only set in memory). So on server startup the auto_increment values are set to max(table.id)+1. The vote on roles will be held at the next irc general meeting. Roles to draw your attention to: * Bug Wranglers - We can always do with more bug wranglers! These people love to keep things tidy and Bugzilla is always in need of your help. We need people to help manage 'the list', identifying the duplicates, promoting bugs to specialists and finding people to do signoffs and testing. Everyone is invited to this party, we need you! * Documentation Team - The documentation team is a growing team that's made great inroads into bringing Koha's documentation up to date and ensuring we have a really well-documented piece of software. There's plenty more to do and they're always on the lookout for new contributors. * Wiki Curators - Koha's wiki is bursting at the seams with good information, but we need your help to bring order to the chaos and keep improving the content. If you've got an interest in maintaining an area of the Wiki, helping identify out of date information or categorizing data then this is a job for you. * Quality Assurance Team - This vitally important team is always looking for new recruits!
