Hi I have a doubt about which kind of index to use in koha for a mostly spanish library. Acquisitions User Group

Hi All, We have our first Koha Acquisitions User Group meeting next week! We will get together at 11:00 Central Time. We have a great opportunity to submit an acquisition development to Koha-US with all the power of a user group behind the submission! What we need to do is select a development (or two) to be considered by the development committee. Based on conversations we have had, I think we should propose Bug 13325 - Add logs for budgets and funds. This is a development that I think every kind of library can use. What we need to do is decide how we want this function to look. For this meeting, I would ask that people bring your idea of how the screens would look to make this development easy to use and useful. For example, do you want to click on the current fund amount and have a new screen display with the history of the fund balance and then a field to modify the balance? That is just an idea off the top of my head. The more specific we can get, the quicker our development will get implemented. If anyone has another acquisitions bug they would like to suggest for the development committee, please bring that. If time allows, we will field any questions or problems people would like to discuss. Have a great weekend! Joel, The best free kiosk software I have found is OpenKiosk. It is built off FireFox. I don't know that you will be able to do what you want with removing logins, holds and carts without some smart jQuery based on IP addresses. However, I can tell you, we use this in our library for all our catalogs and self checks, and it works great. It will reset the session, removing history, and any logins. You can set how long it sits idle before resetting, and it will warn the user in case they are still there. You can remove navigation, so it only depends on where the site you point to takes them. But if you want to make the links in the 856u field, I would suggest jQuery to make them inert, again, based on IP. You could whitelist the catalog in the OpenKiosk settings, but you would also have to whitelist all the resources it relies on. So, it would take some work, however you approach it. Otherwise, you would probably be better off setting up a second catalog address that you could customize for this purpose. Hi Alvaro, I'm sure the folk at Theke would be able to provide a solid recommendation (https://theke.io/) I mostly support English libraries and they use the CHR (ie charmap word-phrase-utf.chr) indexing. However, libraries I support with French and Arabic use ICU (ie icuchain words-icu.xml) indexing. I think the most appropriate choice for you will probably be ICU, but I'll defer to those who support Spanish language libraries. In any case, if you do change that Zebra configuration, you will need to re-index your Koha data before search will work properly. Hope that helps.
