Cataloging SIG this Thursday

For the next Koha-US Cataloging SIG meeting, this Thursday, June 4 @ 8 am – 9 am PT (9 MT/10 CT/11 ET in the United States), we're continuing our discussion of building a catalog without OCLC, and we're going to try something a little different! Hello Mark, Thanks for pointing me to that direction. The itemnumber link does open the edit item page I was looking for. However if anybody would help me understand why I get an error (biblionumber is ambiguous) after adding any field from biblio table I'd be really grateful. This after correctly adding a left join for the biblios table using biblionumber on itemnumber in items. Without the fields from biblio, the report works runs successfully. Seeking advise

Hello, Two of our sister institutes are thinking about merging two instances of Koha into one (joined catalog with a single instance of Koha running on a single database) with external expert help. Right now, the two systems are running on two separate VMs and old versions of Koha (3.8 and 16.05). We would like to get advice from the community regarding what strategy to follow: 1. Should these two versions of Koha instances be upgraded separately, then merged. 2. Have a clean install of a new version and migrate the data from both system. 3. Or any insight in this regard would be appreciated. Thanks, Bruck T.

Koha slows and searches fail

Hi, So I've installed a fresh version of koha (19.11) using the Debian package install instructions and then migrated over a database from another koha install. It seemed that it all went well but I am not noticing the respond time of koha dramatically slows throughout the day, and searches start to produce no results, both in staff and OPAC. Turning the machine off and on again seems to solve the issue for a while. Yes, I think I've got it now. Thanks for your help. The hard part was figuring out where to find the itemtype in the bib record. Sort of OT: configuring UFW

My apologies for posting a question that's not exactly Koha-related, though could be. I'm hoping that someone here can explain in a way that a simple medical librarian and part-time Koha geek can understand, or point me to a source that can. Yes, I checked the man page. What I want to do us use UFW (Uncomplicated Firewall) on Ubuntu to allow access to only permitted IP addresses. I can add one IP address without a problem: sudo ufw allow from 192.168.1.115 to any port 80 I think I know how to add a range consisting of anything beginning with 192.168.1.*: sudo ufw allow from 192.168.1.0/24 to any port 80 (Please correct me if I'm wrong.) What I need to do is allow access from the range 192.168.*.* or something like this 192.168.22-65.* or 192.138.187-189.* Any ideas or sources of information? SQL help?

Every year, we need to confirm graduating students have no outstanding loans so they can graduate. And every year I think I must ask for some help in doing it more efficiently than searching borrower numbers one by one... I'd like to be able to copy & paste a number of borrower numbers into search box and get back a table showing those with outstanding loans: (borrower number, name, and number of current loans) Can cutting & pasting or searching on multiple borrower numbers be done in SQL reports? This is way beyond my basic level of SQL understanding, so any advice/assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thank you and have a great day wherever you may be!
