Esteemed colleagues, I'm running into some bumps while I'm setting up a Koha installation. I'm using: An Ubuntu server from Digital Ocean, 20.04. (In Toronto, if that makes any difference.) Koha 20.11x Using packages from mirrors.digitalocean.com While I'm installing koha-common, right before the end, this happens: The following plugins have been enabled: rabbitmq_stomp started 1 plugins [that's normal, but then nothing happens for a couple of minutes, and I get this:] Failed to enable unit: Unit /run/systemd/generator.late/koha-common.service is transient or generated. [then setup returns to normal] I've never seen this before, and I've done a LOT of Koha installations. Any ideas of what's happening? I also want to add Memcached. (If it matters, I've also installed plack.) The instructions at https://wiki.koha-community.org/wiki/Koha_on_ubuntu_-_packages say: If you want to use memcached: This may need to be installed first with: sudo apt-get install memcached Include --use-memcached [then the next line is:] sudo koha-create --create-db library Problem is, I can't figure where to include -use-memcached. All right, I have a bad case of Basement Brain. Could someone un-confuse me? And finally, when I try to install a language with Sudo koha-translate -install fr-FR for example, I get the warning connection to '__MEMCACHED_SERVERS___' failed and warnings that performance will suffer greatly. Then when I try to install another language such as es_ES, de_DE, or am_ETHI, I get a message that the language is not available. Later in the installation I get the option to use FR, so it seems to have been installed. The Memcached settings in /etc/koha/sites/library/koha-conf.xml appear to be correct. It's dinnertime here in North American Eastern Time, but I'll be back on Monday. Thanks to anyone who can point me in the right direction. Publication date (yyyy-yyyy) advanced search option not working in my Koha instance

Hi all, We recently upgraded to 20.05.08 from 19.11, and we've found that the advanced search option in the staff interface for publication date by year range isn't producing any results for us if we use it. Specifying it with y,st-year in the keyword search instead *does* produce results though. Does anyone have any ideas what might cause this? I've tested it on Bywater's demo, which is running 20.05.04, and it does work there, so I'm guessing it's some quirk specific to our system rather than an actual bug (unless it happened to be introduced between the .04 and .08 releases). Two problems with cover images: rotation and scaling

Hello, I have two problems with local cover images in our KOHA instance (18.05.14.000). They concern rotation and scaling of the images. 1. When uploading a local cover image which is in portrait mode (i.e. width is smaller than height), KOHA will display this image in the catalogue rotated 90°, i.e. in landscape mode... so you have to twist your neck to read it. Very inconvenient! Is there a way to avoid this? I scanned the system preferences but I could not find anything whose name suggests it has anything to do with that. When I upload images in landscape mode, they remain upright, so everything is fine. Images uploaded are jpg, size seems irrelevant. 1. The upladed images get scaled down, resolution is lost significantly. I am aware that KOHA displays images as thumbnails and when you click on them supposedly in full size. But even the full size view has lost resolution. When a cover image contains a photo of the table of contents from a book, this cannot be read anymore when viewed in KOHA... but the picture before upload is very clear. Is there a way to control the downsizing/scaling, that KOHA obviously applies here? Thanks in avdance, André Hartmann KOHA admin of the libraries of the Berlin astronomical observatories

Kohathon 2021 call for proposals

Hello everyone, koha-US is getting ready for Kohathon 2021 and we need some presentation proposals. For those of you who don't remember last year, Kohathon 2020 was a 15-hour online educational conference hosted by Koha-US. Like last year, this will be a free event streamed to YouTube and open to anyone who wants to attend. We don't have a website up yet, but we have set a date for April 28 beginning at 8:00 a.m. Eastern Time and going until 6:00 p.m. Pacific Time (that's 13:00 UTC on the 28th until 01:00 UTC on the 29th).
