With the call going out for people to advertise their own businesses on the koha support pages (thanks for the support Rach!), I wanted to set up a mailing list for people to discuss starting companies and/or consulting practices around Koha. This list will be a place to discuss marketing, business development, resource sharing, lead sharing (for extra-regional leads), sub-contracting opportunities, and the like. I believe that there is room for a lot of healthy cooperation, and would like to take some of the load off of Katipo. I also believe that koha and koha-devel are the wrong places for this conversation. Open Book

I notice that there have been enquiries on this list regarding the status of Open Book (a fork of Koha that was being developed and then seemed to disappear). It appears that development and testing has been continuing and the name is now the Integrated Library System (ILS) and sponsored by LearningAccess.org. They have a bit on info on their website at http://www.learningaccess.org/website/techdev/ils.php but no downloads available yet.

I would like to translate koha in Bangla (Bengali) the 5th largest language in the world. Also I will try to translate koha in hindi. Whether the images are to be changed only? I would like to get the overall idea of how to do that. Can i get to see the translated version in other language in any site? Md. Hello Alistair, It really is free software. We had it written for our libraries, and released it under a GPL licence. It is now supported, and being further developed by an international team of experts, who are all volunteering their time. You do not owe Horowhenua Library Trust anything to use Koha, but we would be really interested in hearing how you get on. There are two mailing lists about Koha. The general list koha(a)lists.katipo.co.nz and I would strongly recommend you join it. The second list is for developers, and sometimes gets quite technical. koha-devel(a)lists.sourceforge.net A new release (version 1.2.0) of Koha was released last weekend, and a fix for a few bugs that crept into that release will be available in the next two or three days. This new release offers a lot more help in setting up koha, and hetting it running for your library. Have a try and see how you get on. If you find problems, send a message to the koha(a)lists.katipo.co.nz ; there is very likely someone there who can help. koha and usermin?

Koha, a wonderful program usermin, a wonderful program, has anyone had any thoughts of allowing users to be able cross between the two, or if there is any interest in this, let me know and we can have a cup, and work on a few ideas? koha install problems on RH 7.2

Well, I think I followed the directions... I have virtual hosted koha and opac on my Apache server. Koha.conf error with Install Script & other bug

Hello, I think I'm run across a problem which explains some problems other might be having (Items not displaying, etc), but I'm probibly wrong here. When I try to search the database, rather do ANYTHING with the database, authentication always fails and spits this error out in the logs. ~[ DBI->connect(koha:localhost) failed: Access denied for user: kohaadmin@localhost' (Using password: NO) at /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.6.1/i586-linux/C4/Database.pm line 41 Can't call method "prepare" on an undefined value at /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.6.1/i586-linux/C4/Search.pm line 1010, <KC> line 4. ]~ But yet my /etc/koha.conf clearly shows that I have my admin account specified and the password too database=koha hostname=localhost user=kohaadmin password=******** Wahhhh... Ah hold on, I found it. The install script creates /etc/koha.conf with the variable 'password=' when it should be 'pass=' Changing that fixes the problems with searching/accessing the database. (don't you love it when you solve your own problems) Now I just have issues with the Admin pages, all but the Categories page. Koha 1.2.0 Released

Its finally here! Nearly a year since the last release, we have a new stable release of koha. 1.2.0 The main new features in this version are: - Can search by dewey number - Keyword Searches can be restricted by a dewey number - Can restrict a catalogue search by a class of items - Simple acquisitions module - Deleting borrowers checks their accounts for reserves, current issues, and fines - New catalogue maintenance section - MARC importing from a file, and from z39.50 Main Bugfixes: - Keyword searches are a lot faster - Combined author and title search is now also searching series title - Combined author and title search is now also searching series title - Adding children and institutions works as advertised There have been numerous little fixes and a lot of code clean up. The structure of the tarball has changed to a more sensible layout, and the INSTALL document has been rewritten. There is also now a installer script, as well as a functioning database update script. All this should mean its the easiest Koha to install or upgrade yet. The next release wont take nearly as long, 1.2.1 is well underway.
