A problem installing Koha 1.3.2

Hi everybody Anybody knows what could be happening? I think have completed all the steps to install, but when I try to execute updatedatabase script appears a problem: DBD::mysql::st execute failed: Multiple primary key defined at updatedatabase line 416. The December issue of American Libraries, the magazine of the American Library Association, has a feature article by David Dorman called "Open Source Software and the Intellectual Commons." Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to be available online . . . Dorman argues that Open Source is not a fad, but a "fundamental trend that fulfills some very basic economic, cultural, ethical, and political needs." He mentions Koha in the very first paragraph: "There is even an Open Source library management system -- Koha -- in general release for smaller libraries." Koha for my classroom library

Hi All, I am a 5th grade classroom teacher in Boston, MA, USA. I have a classroom library of about 2000 books and a teacher library of about 15 sets of 25 books each.I loan and manage these books. I am fairly skilled at using packaged software but get frustrated when I need to know more technical knowledge to adapt or correct a software problem. I have never worked with open source software. I am looking for some folks who may have developed a classroom library system using Koha who could advise me on jumping into using it for my situation. My big question is: How much time will it take and are there folks out there to help me? I want to develop a system that will: 1. Keep track of basic borrowing, inventory, and returns, 2. Keep a history record for each borrower so I can check on a students reading habits over a full year, 3. Be compatible with an ISBN # or other database that will assist with entering books. I hope to find a database that will also provide data that will allow me to sort books at various reading levels, 4. be able to print and use barcodes for inventory control. Please let me know if you have some experience with this work, especially in the States with databases of US published books. I don't have much to say myself this week, but I think the information below will do a good job of keeping you up to date. Development: I'd like to introduce what I hope will become a monthly feature in this newsletter, a monthly development summary. Here are the stats for November. France: The first installation in france occurs this week : koha 1.3.2 will be installed in ND-Dombes Abbey, in France. Corinne PESQUET, the librarian, will help debugging the unstable tree and reach a mature product quality. Outside Koha: kbarcode - Paul discovered this kde tool and uses it to create barcodes for the Dombes Abbey. This tool is: * free software (GPL licenced) * graphic (under kde) * stable (despite a little lack of documentation, like most of free softwares projects) * full featured (you can print many barcodes types, and define your own labels, your own calatog...) * developed by 2 germans. Its main faults is the same as any other proprietary barcode editor: it's slow, as barcode generating is a complex task. Regarding the planned/hopeful addition to Koha of what we in the library world might call a MARC editor (the ability to view bibliographic and authority records in MARC tagged format and add/modify records in MARC tagged format), I was wondering if anybody took a look at the free MARC editor available from Terry Reese from Oregon State U (via URL <http://www.onid.orst.edu/~reeset/marcedit/html/>) listed on the LC page on MARC records, Systems, and Tools (URL <http://lcweb.loc.gov/marc/marctools.html>) as a prototype? Since I am a complete neophyte, please excuse if this has already been done and rejected, or is impracticable because of its base in MS COM arch. Reese does claim that users can "access the functionality of the MarcEngine through numerous scripting or programming languages ..." At the very least, it is a handy free editor. Anyway, I hope this may help. There are a number of other useful tools available on the LC page that Koha users might want to be aware of.
