Hi everyone I am the librarian for a small NGO called Dev-Zone (Development Resource Centre) I would like to know if anyone has used a combination of Inmagic and Koha. (We have a single user licence for Inmagic and do not want a multi-user licence which is vastly more expensive!) Inmagic enables us to use advanced search strategies essential for our specialist research library and has the ability to print detailed information on book labels for our subject classification (we need title, author and location on the book labels) We would like to use Imagic to enter data and then export it frequently to Koha so as we can use the Koha circulation module and other Koha library functions Thanks Marion Lienert

Hello, I'm a newbie to Koha and have been having some problems. I have version 1.2.2 loaded and all looks good but when trying to add anything to the database I continually get these errors in my koha-error log on my apache server. DBD::mysql::st execute failed: No Database Selected at /usr/appl/www/koha/cgi-bin/admin/categorie.pl line 35. DBD::mysql::st fetchrow_hashref failed: fetch() without execute() at /usr/appl/www/koha/cgi-bin/admin/categorie.pl line 38. I'm running on Solaris 8, mysql, and apache. issues arising from upgrade to 1.3.3

Greetings, I am experimenting with koha on a development server here, and had a fine time installing 1.2.2 without a hitch. Then I got a bit cocky, and tried the upgrade to 1.3.3 - being a fan of leaning over the bleeding edge - and it broke. I'm sure it is fixable, but I'd really like a pointer. Here's my situation: the OPAC interface is working nicely, but the intranet will not load. Apache error_log shows that the HTML::Template toolkit cannot locate the /default/intranet/intranet_main.tmpl - file not found. Ok, well, I see a note in Hints regarding the includes=path not being set right, but the note is too short and rather vague as to the correct values or a method for working them out. And I don't believe this is the source of the file-not-found error anyway. So, without having to go through all the documentation on the Template Toolkit and then reading my way through all of the perl modules installed as koha ... Can someone tell me where to adjust the system's notion of where it should look for the /default/ templates directory? Problems upgrading to 1.3.3 on Red Hat 7.1

We've tried to run the koha.upgrade script to upgrade to version 1.3.3 and we're being told that we're missing two necessary modules, Net::Z3950 and MARC::Record. The problem with the Z39.50 module seems to be a case of "failed dependencies"; 3 files are missing that are needed by Yaz, two of which are libhistory.so.4 and libreadline.so.4. We wondered whether this meant that our 7.1 version of Red Hat was too old. In the case of MARC::Record, we thought we did everything necessary to load this module, and we in fact get the confirmation message that MARC::Record is up to date, but the koha.upgrade script still seems to think it isn't present. We even tried rebooting the Red Hat server to no avail. Any ideas? Larry Currie -- Lawrence W. I enjoyed reading Regula's message, and thought it made some very good points. I agree that the traditional separation between cataloging and acquisitions is not going to be very productive in the future, though I think it will be a long time before a significant number of libraries realize this and change their work habits. So perhaps treating catalging and acquisitions as one (software) process is a good approach for programmers. But I also think that presenting the two as separate interfaces to the librarian is important, since it will be years before most libraries can reorganize their staff to combine the (human) acquisitions process seamlessly with the (human) cataloging process. French version of koha

Hi All! I am in contact with a library here in Montréal that would be a good candidate for koha. Their primary working language is French, however. What is the state of the French version of koha? Koha on Debian

Hi, I am working for a French school to replace our old ILS by a new one like Kaho. I am installing a first Kaho server to prepare a laboratory and to see how Kaho works. I have a problem during the installation. I use Debian (Woody) release and i have installed yaz 1.8.7 has shown below ; dpkg -l ..... ii yaz-devel 1.8.7-1 The YAZ Z39.50 toolkit (development files) ii yaz-doc 1.8.7-1 The YAZ Z39.50 toolkit (documentation) ii yaz-runtime 1.8.7-1 The YAZ Z39.50 toolkit (runtime files) ii yaz-ssl 1.8.7-1 The YAZ Z39.50 toolkit (SSL support) I retrieved koha-1.2.2.tar and untar it. I ran ./installer.pl " .... PERL & MODULES ============== Checking perl modules ... The Net::Z3950 module is missing. This module is necessary if you want to use Koha's Z39.50 client to download bibliographic records from other libraries. To install this module, you will need the yaz client installed from http://www.indexdata.dk/yaz/ and then you can install the perl module with the command: perl -MCPAN -e 'install Net::Z3950' " So i ran in another window "perl -MCPAN -e 'install Net::Z3950' " command and i got the error message "PERL_DL_NONLAZY=1 /usr/bin/perl -Iblib/arch -Iblib/lib -I/usr/lib/perl/5.6.1 -I/usr/share/perl/5.6.1 test.pl 1..16 ok 1 ok 2 ok 3 ok 4 ok 5 ok 6 Event: '??
