Hi..... I have installed koha Koha - V2.0.0pre2. on windows and successfully run.But I have problem to import 5000 marc record into koha .I would like to test koha using our data. Anybody know how to transfer data using marc record.These are sample data.Is it in the correct format?.I need some help.I hope somebody can explain how to do it & how the format? Hello everyone, it seems like it's about time for another of my infrequent newsletters. Quite a few things have taken place recently, and I want to make sure everyone is 'in the loop'. Most importantly, we're coming very close to a 2.0.0 release. The bug counts are down: 'must fix' 6 'should fix' 27 'might fix' 3 While a couple of new bugs get reported a week, the developers are still making progress. Part of our approach to 2.0.0 includes a beta testing cycle. That's already begun, and we're currently on release 2.0.0pre2. Paul is away for a couple of weeks, but I'm anticipating that he'll make another 2.0.0pre release shortly after his return. In other development news, we have two new features that are being held out of the main distribution while 2.0.0 stabilizes, rssKoha and ldapKoha. These are being distributed as separate packages so that people can see them and start working with them. At some point after the official 2.0.0 release, they will be merged into the main distribution. rssKoha is a system that allows a Koha system to syndicate RSS feeds based on data from the system. This will allow a library to begin publishing data to users through a different path than the OPAC. Good examples might be a list of the most recently acquired DVDs, or a list of the most requested/reserved mystery novels. ldapKoha allows a Koha system to authenticate users from an existing LDAP server. This feature should be particularly interesting to corporate or academic libraries. This feature was developed by the students at ESIEE (http://www.esiee.fr) More information about these (and other news about Koha), please take a look at http://www.kohalabs.com/news/ -- translations of stories are currently being provided in English, French, and German (Spanish should follow soon). The final bits of news involves two more libraries picking up Koha! The Ecole des mines de Paris (I've been told that they're comparable to MIT in the US) has decided to begin working with Koha. The doxulting company (a Library systems consulting firm) and Paul Poulain will be working with them during this process. The University of Buffalo is going to start using Koha in some of its Library Information Systems courses. The students will be installing, testing, and reviewing Koha at first. CAN'T CALCULATE FINES & CHARGES

Hi... 1. I am using Koha v1.2.3. I have try to request books and issue on the item request.But the problem is koha cannot calculate the fines & charges although the items on issue are overdue date.I hope somebody can help me. 2. I still confuse about format for a marc import file. Anybody can explain what is ISO2709 format file and give some examples about it? Acquisitions and catalogue modules

Hello I am reposting this as only received one reply (thankyou) but really do need some help as I can go no further. I have asked the IT person who installed it for us to inform me what version was used, but haven'tyet received a reply, it certainly wasn't the latest. I have been employed to set up a library at the South Pacific College of Natural Therapeutics. Someone suggested we use Koha as a library system and an IT person has installed this. I am a librarian used to using different systems but not Koha. I have been reading about bugs but I'm not an IT person so it goes over my head. I am using Acqui Simple. When I try to add a biblio without an ISBN, the next page I go to doesn't have as many fields as the testsystem on Koha. i.e. It doesn't have a class field (It does have Dewey field); it doesn't have an ISBN field so the entry ends up on the third page without one. If I enter a record via the ISBN on the first page, it then takes me to the third page which is basically the ISBN page and misses out the second page completely. Once in the catalogue there is no Item type (though I have previously entered it and I have added it originally through the system parameters). no NLM classification either. I can modify the record on that page but when I go the the Group modify page and add classification, item type and ISBN, it doesn't save any of the information. When I click on Group delete, it sends me to a page unable to be found. Are these bugs? Can this be fixed? or am I missing something completely. The System Parameters do not contain as many parameters as the test database on Koha. Missing - MARC tag structure, Links Koha - MArc Db, MARC check, Thesaurus, Authorised Values, Membership Category. And the system preferences do not contain all the preferences that the test database has, although I have added Autobarcode myself. When I enter a new member the Area field has a dropdown box with a choice of areas from Horowhenua. Since this library is in Auckland is it possible to change and where would this be done. I'm sorry to ask all these questions but I am at the library only one day a week and I spent a very frustrating Friday getting this far. Problems in 2.0.0pre2

Thanks to everyone for putting all that effort into getting 2.0pre2 out. It's looking better every release. I upgraded to 2.0pre2 from 2.0pre1. I'm running RH8. 1. MARC biblio table of acqui.simple/addbiblio.pl still has some bugs: - 'z3950 search' link (in addbiblio.pl) crashes IE5.5, IE6 with 'invalid argument on line 599' - there is no green background on the rows when viewed with IE5.5, IE6. (NS4.7, NS6.2, Opera are OK) - 'add biblio' and 'z3950' links are partly off the page (IE5.5 and IE6 only) 2. 'Logout' does not seem to work. It takes me to the mainpage.pl?logout.x=1 page, however after pressing any of the links I find that I'm still logged in as the librarian 3. I tried setting a 'New UserID' and 'New Password' for a user via the member-password.pl page. I was expecting to be able to log in with that UserID and Password into the intranet interface with the appropriate user flags. But I can not log in with that password. What is the right password? When I try to change the password again, Koha generates a random one and pressing 'Confirm Password', generates an error message "You have entered a UserID that already exists....". What am I doing wrong? How can you change an existing user's password? 4. ISBN is not validated (against its checksum) when typed into acqui.simple/addbooks.pl 5. When adding a new biblio, it would be nice if the ISBN number was automatically entered into the MARC table. (AddBiblio -> typing ISBN in addbooks.pl -> GO -> AddNewBiblio) 6. Paths in the z3950-deamon-launch.sh and z3950-deamon-shell.sh are wrong Some minor bugs: 1. Typo in the heading of search.marc/search.pl (I take it is in french) 2. No image for the placerequest.pl on the request.pl page 3. Invalid link to ..../images/cancel-requests.gif on moremember.pl 4. Typo in member-flags.pl (in the description field of 'parameters ') 5. On the acqui.simple/additem.pl page it would be nice if both 'holdingbranch' and 'homebranch' had a default value of the first branch as set in admin/branches.pl 6. On member.pl there is 'Clr' button that does not seem to do anything 7. circ/branchtransfers.pl should have 'Issues' image for the circ/circulation.pl link 8. circ/returns.pl is missing 'Transfers' image for the circ/branchtransfers.pl link PS. OverDue Charges

Hi everyone the fines2.pl now is working properly with me , but the way it calculates the fines is strange for me . it just calculate the fines at two dates the first one is caled first reminder the second one is called second notice , if the borrower returned the book between these dates the fines will be the fine for the first reminder only .
