We are using a simple Access db for our aquistions at the moment but intend to use koha. What is the way to set up the data so that we can import it to koha? At present, the fields are: AccessionID DateAquired Author Title Publisher ISBN PublicationDate Cost PurchaseSource Department There are about 6000 books entered. Installing Koha 2 on Mandrake 9.1

Dear Koha Folks: Our school library has been using Koha for a year now. Recently, the Z3950 tool stopped working, and I decided it was time to begin looking at Koha version 2. On a different machine, I successfully installed Koha 2, but am having trouble getting it to run. When I connect to koha in the web browser (Mozilla), it quickly displays the "Welcome to Koha" message, but then says "The requested URL /cgi-bin/opac/opac-main.pl was not found on this server." I have played with httpd.conf and with the Koha index.html file, changing ScriptAlias and so forth. but so far no luck. My httpd error log says "[Tue Aug 12 08:40:39 2003] [crit] (98)Address already in use: make_sock: could not bind to port 80". I have included a copy of the Koha part of httpd.conf below... I thought someone might see an obvious problem that I have missed. Any suggestions? (Thanks!) MARC importing tool?

Howdy! I've developed a couple of programs that I have used to aid me in populating the library database. The first program takes a raw scan of a book's EAN (ie:9781575212784) and converts it into the ISBN (ie:1575212781). The second program takes a list of ISBN's and attempts to retrieve the MARC record for each title from the LoC. I have successfully used these two programs to obtain MARC records on approximately 4000 titles so far. I think it took about 40 minutes to poll the LoC and save all the responses to a file. The only program I need to find/write/beg/borrow/steal is one that will take all these MARC records and import them into KOHA. Is there anything out there that does this already? library policies

We hope to be setting up a library with koha before too long. Not being a librarian I wonder if there are guidelines out there somewhere about establishing library policies. E.g.. term of loan, renewals, overdue policies ... Any help appreciated. Migration to 2.0 betas going smoothly?

If I decide not to wait until 2.0-STABLE, and install Koha 1.x now, how much hassle am I in for when I upgrade to 2.0? (Assume I'm not tweaking the installation much, just setting up basic parameters and doing a bit of data entry.) I'm willing to wait for 2.0-STABLE if it's a good idea. Despite lurking on the list, I've never actually used Koha. Ben -- Email is packaged by intellectual weight, not volume. Some settling of contents may have occurred during transmission.

2.0.0pre2 bugs and questions

Hi everyone, Sorry again for not using Bugzilla.... I seem to be striking quite a number of bugs. Am I doing something wrong? System RH8, Koha 2.0.0pre2 1. When adding members, card number is not checked for being unique. 2. When adding items, barcode is not checked for being unique. 3. When trying to issue a Reserved book and clicking 'NO' to "Allow issue?", displays "Set reserve for Member to waiting and transfer to Library". Clicking either "Yes" or "No" takes me back to "Allow issue?". There seems to be no way out of this cycle. 4. When trying to issue a non-returned book and clicking 'YES' to "Allow issue?", it correctly lends the book out, but there is no "Due Date" shown for this item. 5. Once there is a book with a repeated bar-code number, issuing a couple of books (not necessarily the one with a repeated bar-code number) gets Koha totally confused, by incorrectly duplicating some entries: Todays Issues Due Date Bar Code Title Author Class 18/07/2003 L19999895 This book's title This book's author 18/07/2003 L19999895 This book's title This book's author 18/07/2003 L19999895 This book's title This book's author 24/07/2003 L19999899 Book's title Book's author 6. Would be very nice if circulation pages used focus() and TABINDEX. This way one could issue books with just scanning and a TAB key. 2.
