I wasn't paying very close attention to this thread because we haven't seen problems with cookies and can't get cookie-based authentication working in the 2.0.0-pre2-R2 intranet anyway. But today I realized that users of Internet Explorer 5.5 and 6 (Windows) are not retaining their home branch/printer settings. I've checked Explorer's security settings in both cases and confirmed that the browser *should* be accepting the cookies. And I've checked for the cookie in Explorer's cookies folder and found nothing. Could there be a problem with the way Koha sets cookies in general? Something quirky about how Internet Explorer treats the cookies Koha tries to set? Greetings from a new Koha user

Hi, I just found Koha and am attempting to use it for something that's kinda-sorta a library. I have a large collection of educational science books, software, videos, and lab equipment that I frequently loan to parents who home-school children in my area. I'm trying to make Koha work to keep track of what I've got and who has the stuff at any given point. It looks great so far. Just wanted to introduce myself and let you know about a new place Koha is being used. Morning all, Ok, I've imported all my records from WINISIS and have now embarked on entering some new acquisitions. I have acquisitions set to simple and MARC support is switched off. When I enter a new record everything seems to work ok. A biblio entry is made and a biblioitem soon follows. The problem starts when I go and view the record using a catalogue search. When I view the new record, item count is zero and the record has no branch. So maybe there is not a record being saved to the items table. When I check the items table a corresponding record is found with branch info and the like. So why is no item being displayed? Does anyone know what is going on? Simple acquisitions - can only search by ISBN?

We're just getting started with Koha, so I apologize if this is an obvious question... We installed Koha 1.23. We're using it to catalog our very disorganized collection of reference books. So far it seems to be working pretty well with one big exception. We're able to acquire one copy of a book using the Z39.50 search and then inserting the resulting record. If we have a second copy of that book, and the book has an ISBN number, we can go to the acquisition screen, enter the ISBN, and then add a second item record. But we have a some books that were published informally by small companies and don't have (valid -- or any) ISBN numbers. When we looked at the Koha documentation, it showed a "keyword" search option on the simple acquisition screen that would allow you to find the biblio record using a keyword. But this does not appear in our installation. Are we doing something wrong? Do we need to upgrade to one of the newer development versions? In a pinch, I could probably whip up a quickie script to do this. But since there appears to be a different way in the manual, I'm assuming someone has already solved this problem. KOHA 1.2.3

Hello, I'm interested in knowing if KOHA has boolean operators or a search system by subject that is known to anyone. I have found that AND is the only operator that can be used to group subjects etc. Can anyone shed some light on this. I am only working voluntarily so haven't had a chance to go very far with this to date. Also, in Dewey classification, the Class and Subclass. How are people getting on with periodicals when there may be letters and numbers in the subclass. We can only use numbers/letters pertaining to each division respectively. We have struck a few problems, potentially bugs, but overall very happy with Koha and are hoping to upgrade to KOHA 2. whenever it is released. Thankyou Heather (Student librarian)

You've read about it in Library Journal (http://libraryjournal.reviewsnews.com/index.asp?layout=article&articleId=CA… 85) -- now see the real thing! The Nelsonville Public Library is proud to announce the deployment of the MARC- compatible version of Koha, "the first open source integrated library system" (http://www.koha.org) Although we're still debugging some parts of the program (particularly some Internet Explorer 6 issues), you can see the OPAC at http://koha.athenscounty.lib.oh.us -- and of course, we'd be glad to demonstrate the staff interface to anyone who wants to stop by one of our libraries. While we will probably never be "finished" with tweaking Koha (and isn't that the whole point in using open source software?), we're pleased with the general performance and capabilities. For those with questions about the process of migrating to Koha, we hope to put up a wiki at some point in the not-too- distant future dealing with that subject. Meanwhile, you can help.
