I used that snippet of code because it wasn't clear from the default template what information was being displayed (Current Loan: Yes, Current Loan: No... what does that mean? I guess it means Renewable: Yes or Renewable: No.) So I guess it's a bug in the vanilla template, and one that I'm not going to worry about. -- Owen

For the status variable in the template, it is set by renewstatus from C4::Circulation::Renewals2 I think. The documentation for that ("perldoc C4::Circulation::Renewals2") says: renewstatus returns a true value iff the item may be renewed. The item must currently be on loan to the specified borrower; renewals must be allowed for the item's type; and the borrower must not have already renewed the loan. Sorry for the re-post, but I never got a response to this, and I'd really like to know the answer! In opac-user.pl, in the default template, there's a column marked 'Current Loan', with values 'yes' or 'no' (<TMPL_IF NAME="status">) What does that mean? In the vanilla template for the same file, there's this block of markup: <TMPL_IF NAME="renewable"> <A HREF='/cgi-bin/koha/opac-renew.pl?from=opac_user&item=<TMPL_VAR NAME="itemnumber">&bornum=<TMPL_VAR NAME="borrowernumber">' class="padded">Renew</A> <TMPL_ELSE> Not renewable </TMPL_IF> ...but this always returns 'Not renewable'. koha i18n scheme

Hi all, I just downloaded the latest stable version of Koha, and did not find any .po files to start a translation. I know a Polish translation has been done, and someone spoke about a french translation. I'm ready to help for the last one, please give me informations about the i18n process :) Olivier Kaloudoff

Chris, Thanks for getting back to me on this. I just downloaded the latest from sourceforge and ran them: ver. 1.31 addbiblio.pl size 16485 ver. 1.21 addbiblio.tmpl size 21482 This did not correct the problem. As an F.Y.I. these seem to be the same as what I had previously since the file sizes matched, and I was running pre3. Some more information that may be helpful: I am running IE 6.0.26. I have installed Koha on a RedHat 9.0 box, but have built both Apache2 and Mysql4 and their required libraries from scratch. I dont like how RH version controls their packages, and where they put things. The exact error message is: Line: 631 Char: 2 Error: Invalid argument Code: 0 URL: http://host.mydomain/cgi-bin/koha/acqui.simple/addbiblio.pl Hope this helps, but it does seem that the problem has reappeared as reported. Anything else I can do to help let me know. I will add this info to bugzilla. Hello, I have just intalled Koha 2.0.0pre3 and try to go to do a z3950 search from the acquisitions section. When I click on the z3950 search link, I get errors on the page. Marc and LC call number import

hi all I'm working a branch library of the university. We are cataloging our library records to the main library's database. But they are not let us to use the circulation systems. Because of this I want to use the koha to make my library's circulation. Our records are usmarc format and we use LC call numbers at 050 fields first and second indicators are 0. It will be welcome for us to resolve LC call number problem at Koha. By the way I'm using a little book called "Understanding MARC Bibliographic: Machine-Readable Catatoging" which can be downloadable from LC's web sites. http://www.loc.gov/marc/umb/ The book is explain most using marc tags with examples. You can download the chapters and print out them to use hard copy. Steven, The call number in 050 and 090 are for the manifestation of the work not the individual copy. 852, is for copy information, so that would not be a good choice to map the info to. Greg's records should have a field with copy info including a call number, location within his institution, cost, fund info and whatever his institution needs to attach to that copy. That is good for 852. 050 and 090 classification information is not copy related. The Functional Requirements for Bibliographic Records (FRBR) clear up some of the confusing aspects of our bib records. I never knew that LC used 090 for local call numbers, interesting bit of history. That explains why it is so common to see that field used. This is, in part, because LC used it for both Local Call Number and Shelf Location at different times in the past (I actually have a print-off of an old-enough USMARC Concise Format that lists the 090 that way with the notation obsolete) and when it was cleared for system developpers use, many remembered its past and kept it going. Unless you've dumped your database in migrating/upgrading the Koha, the info should still be there. Did the call numbers not end up in Koha somehow? How did you go about mapping your 090 into Koha? If it didn't work and you still have the original data, you might want to: · attempt mapping the 090 data into a properly formatted 852 field; or, as a stop-gap · select a 9xx number field that wasn't used in your data and isn't used in Koha and move the call numbers there with a global MARC editor (see the MARC tools pages at LC for MARCEdit) Or if Koha currently supports global edits of its MARC data (does it? I don't remember reading so) I suppose you could do it within the system. As for issues, I would guess that if the data did map, you'd now have items types of all the LC classes. That oughta be a neat wake-up call to patrons! ;-) As for the 001 field, yes, you're mostly right. Its formal definition is Control Number, that is, the number the ILS knows the item by, acting as a primary key for the database structure holding all the bibliographic records (i.e. it must be unique within the whole mass).
