On a recommendation from here I have been checking out OpenBiblio and Emilda in addition to Koha. What's the difference? I also see PhpMyLibrary and Avanti.

About Z3950 Search of Koha

Hello all I installed koha version 2.2.0RC3 on Redhat Linux 9. Everything works perfect except searching for isbn or title using z3950.I started the daemon with the below command. sh /usr/local/koha/intranet/scripts/z3950daemon/z3950-daemon-launch.sh $RanAsUser then I started to search the isbn using Koha's z3950 Search and I found the following result in z3950 log file. starting loop starting loop starting loop starting loop starting loop starting loop starting loop starting loop starting loop Event: '?? I also tried to make search using servers other than z3950.loc.gov:7090 but I got the same result. I struggled a lot to solve this problem but I can't. Can someone help? It is urgent. another Koha 2.2.0RC4 question

It's imposible to me add a member. Is the "zipcode" field mandatory we don't use it here in Chile (as I know), Do i have to set something in the parameters before adding new members? I only get the error page but no error cause displayed. Another thing... why with the Spanish translation the pages seems different? only text displayed in the pages and no background color. Ok hope someone could help with the first issue it is more important to me... Thanks Cheers J0sep

Koha 2.2.0RC4 translation question

Good eve, Have installed Koha 2.2.0RC4 and know i'm interested in translate it into Spanish I have recived an answer of another member about it. But first i'd like to know if is possible to perform a tranlation under previous circumstances, meanning just editing the .tmpl files with a plain text editor. (the way I did with ver. 2.0.0) Would work that way? since all about the PO file and all that seems a little bit complicated to me. I know that may take more work but I'm more used that way. patrons in a school setting

hello under patrons what would be a natual choice to add class data. I'm in a school pre-k thru 6 with 4 section each like 6-2, 6-3, 5-1 5-2, 5-3 etc. Each year the classes are mixed. some students from 5-2 will find themselves in 6-1 with stusdents from 5-1...5-4. Sure, but isn't it usefull at least to have a base record from which to start? Let's say I run through a list of ISBNs and have a few thousand records waiting to be evaluated. I can take my time moving through the records, cleaning them up and elaborating them. But I would rather not have to look up and enter manually such information as physical properties, LC number, LC call number, etc., for every book. And in the meantime, I can go ahead and have a functional library. We are starting from scratch here, and we have no librarian at our school. So we don't have all the resources to go record by record and be able to check books to our students any time this year. Thanks for all your help. I'm really grateful for everyone's hard work on this project.

Thanks for the great help. I'll check those out when I have a chance tomorrow at school. BTW, has anybody written a script that would work through a list of ISBNs and download the MARC records for them? I have another question, unrelated to the first. What are virtual shelves? I don't see the concept explained in any of the documentation.
