Thursday, August 4, 2005 17:39 CDT Greetings, fellow Koha-ites, I was looking over the Koha Docs site earlier today, gathering some information on setting Parameters, and in looking at the example of an ISBD format, it occurred to me to ask whether something similar could be done with Item Types. Would it be possible to type out -- following whatever prescribed syntax Koha requires/uses to store the information entered -- the Item Types at site A so that info could be pasted in, in the right place, by librarians at site B? New feature on koha-fr.org website

Hi, I just added a few minuts ago a new category to www.koha-fr.org It is related to Koha OPAC stylesheets. You will find here stylesheets working in Koha OPAC. For instance, there are only 2 stylesheets, the default 2.2.3 and the "bibliotheque de sociologie" one. You now have 2 possibilities : * get an existing stylesheet from this website. * submit another one. You can do this just by sending the stylesheet at paul(a)koha-fr.org, i'll take care of uploading it (with credits) to www.koha-fr.org. You just must release the stylesheet under GPL as Koha itself. why 0 items found on import?

Hello, I am working on moving from a PC based library program, Concourse, to Koha. Koha installation was straight forward and the system is working. When I import my marc records I run into some trouble. My records get imported but my item types don't show and everything is listed in Koha as having zero items. The item types seem to be stored outside the marc record in Concourse so I broke my marc export out into separate files for each type of item. I think I see how to programatically set the item type during import to Koha. My real struggle is getting the items to show up as items in Koha and not just biblios. I'm a perl programmer and not a librarian so I don't quite get it. It looks again like Concourse and Koha use marc differently. What Koha maps to 952 tags seems to be listed under 852 tags in what Concourse exports. What I am looking for is a hint about how to adjust things so Koha will believe I have one of each of the items I am importing records for. As an example I have a two record marc file with an entry for a copy of Windows XP software and a copy of Adobe Acrobat that gives me the following when I use dumpmarc. By hand I can edit the item and enter the barcode and voila' I have an item that is requestable. I think that means my marc - koha mapping is at least close to being right. So is the answer to my problem in modifying the marc records import or is this something I can fix somewhere in one of the mapping tables? Upgrade only partially successful

Well, following the advice of the list I decided to upgrade from 1.2.3 to 2.2.3, via 2.0.2 The upgrade from 1.2.3 went without a hitch and 2.0.2 seemed to run fine. Since I wasn't planning to use MARC I answered "N" to the question about which version of MARC I should use during the upgrade. I then went to the System Parameters section and set "Use MARC" to "0". All seemed fine. I then upgraded to 2.2.3 and the problems started. Again I answered "N" to the MARC question. The upgrade seemed to run successfully, but when I sent to the catalogue to do a search, I got an "internal server error". Can anyone help? Is it something to do with my not using MARC? Should I roll back to 1.2.3 and then choose one of the two MARC settings instead of "N". I really don't know anything about MARC (but I want to use Z39.50 searching... do I need to enable MARC to use this?) I'm running Fedora Core 2, with perl 5.8.3 Any pointers greatfully received. z3950 the saga continues

Greetings - I mentioned before I suspected my difficulties lay with the Microsoft ISA server and I was correct. I took the server off the network and replaced it with my Linux box and most was well. But I do not seem to be able to give access to the z39.50 servers on the internet with ISA. Don't seem to be able to port forward port 80 to one machine and port 8080 to another either. MS - whats not to love? Guidance on upgrading from 1.2.3

Gentlefolk, Sorry to bother you folk with what may be a trivial question. I'm currently running Koha 1.2.3 and looking to upgrade to latest production release (2.2.3?). I had a slightly abortive attempt to upgrade to the Version 2 series some time ago and backed off, but I can't put this off much longer. Can I do a direct upgrade to 2.2.3 or do I have to do a step by step up the various releases? How reliable is the upgrade process these days? I ended up last time having to roll back using the database dump I did before the upgrade, and re-installing the software from scratch. I will not be needing MARC. Hi - just posting aout my own post :-) I am running Fedora Core 2 & Koha 2.2.3 I have the problem as described below (from the net-z3950 mailing list) http://indexdata.dk/pipermail/net-z3950/2005-July/000564.html Has anyone resolved this? No, that wouldn't work. "Attempt to free unreferenced scalar" is not an error in the Perl program (which the Perl program would be able to handle), but in the Perl interpreter. That is deep voodoo magic. Unless you've run into a bug in Perl itself (unlikely given the maturity of the code) or in Apache (ditto) or in mod_perl (ditto again), that means the only possible sources of the error are the C-to-Perl binding code-segments in Net::Z3950 itself or the Event module. It looks to me like the solution is semi-radical surgery: rip the Event module right out of the Net::Z3950 module and replace it with YAZ's own event loop. That would have many benefits, but the best one would be that we'd not have the external dependency, so that we'd be in a position to fix problems such as yours. Bug in Koha 2.2.3

Hello all, A french UNIMARC library has found a bug that could affect everybody : In Koha, when MARC=ON, if a field is more than 200 characters, the MARC editor shows it in a textarea of 5 lines instead of a single line.
