barcode autogeneration

I'm looking at http://koha.liblime.com and trying to see how auto-calculated barcode numbers is supposed to work. I don't see that it's working. First off even if I set the parameter to not have auto-calculated barcodes, item creation still shows the "..." next to the field. The barcode number is always auto-calculated to 1.7976931348623e+308. Is there a way to auto-calculate a rational barcode number? If I have barcode auto-calculation on (yes) then I click on the "..." link and then click in the blank field it should fill it in with the next barcode number in sequence, correct? It seems other folks have had problems with autobarcode generation. Is there a bug here or is it user error? How does one set the initial barcode number that should be used? For instance we don't want to have a barcode "1" but would rather have a longer barcode. --Jason

OPAC screen

I just upgraded koha to v.2.2.6 on windows. Attached is the opac screen. Note that some of the features available to 2.2.5 are missing: Member cardlog in (for member to log in to their account using their member ID#) After a book is retrieved, the option to Request a book, hold etc, vitual bookshelf... Thank God I have succeeded to run Koha 2.24 for the first time. Now it is working fine but some of scripts are not present there e.g. when I click on "Issue by Borrower Category" in Reports Menue I found 500 Internal Error. Similarly some modules are missing in admin folder e.g. when I click on Letter in Parameter Menues it says "http://intranet/cgi-bin/koha/admin/letter.pl" could not found. Server information: Koha version2.2.4 OS version Microsoft Windows XP [Version 5.1.2600] Perl version5.008008 MySQL versionmysql Ver 12.22 Distrib 4.0.18, for Win95/Win98 (i32) Apache versionServer version: Apache/2.0.59 Server built: Jul 27 2006 15:55:03 What should i do? Exporting data

I would like to export data from access database into koha's mysql database. I've written a program for exporting the data into koha's database. I'm using the tables : i) biblio ii) biblioitems iii) items iv) marc_word v) marc_subfiled_table vi) marc_biblio. Could any body tell me about the usage of the tables - marc_word, marc_subfield_table & marc_biblio. The only solution would be for them to purchase third-party certificates from a vendor like Verisign. Pre-catalogation permissions

Greetings, I'm trying to setup a Koha environment where I'm giving some permissions to different staff roles. The "big boss" has superlibrarian access (why? dunno yet), the IT guys have access to the parameters, the public relationships staff has access to Circulation, and so on. One of the issues I'm trying to solve is how to make a pre-cataloguing role. Sometimes you want to have the biblio record filled by someone but you need to check it before having it into the OPAC or even before having items created. Sometimes staff does a bad cataloguing work and somebody needs to check it, however this person does not want to actually write the biblio record... How can you accomplish this in Koha? I haven't seen any special permission regarding this, so I assume that if it's possible, then it has to be done through some obscure way, for example "queuing the biblio record for moderation" or something like that. Please excuse me if this question seems naive, but I'm just getting all-in my way to learn more about Koha (and libraries!) Have a nice day, Jose -- José M. Documentation confusion

Hi all, I am about to embark on an install of Koha/2.2.7 on a Debian system (running Deb/Etch and Xen). The documentation page at http://www.kohadocs.org/ has a section on System Administration - Installation. There is a docuemntation there labelled as Installing Koha (2.4) on Debian sarge so I thought to meself, what is Koha/2.4 ... does it exist? Looking at the HTML version of the document, the title reads as follows: Installing Koha 2.4 On Debian GNU/Linux 3.1 Hmmm. This says to me: Installing Koha version 2.4 on Debian. That couldn't be right. Looking further, I finally find this: This document contains installation instructions for Koha 2.0RC4 on Debian Aha! So, is this the latest and greatest INSTALL documentation? Has much changed from Koha/2.0 to Koha/2.2.7 as far as system requirements, module requirements, etc? Should I proceed using this document for the install? Installing without internet connection

Being without an Internet connection myself here is how I have preformed said task. You need to get MARC::record from the perl repositories and download it online. Hopefully you can borrow it from someone. Other then that the best tip. INSTALL DEBIAN SARGE. You can sudo apt-get install any module you need or sudo aptitude search for any module. Otherwise you will need an internet connection. CAN SOMEONE PLEASE TELL ME WHERE TO POST CODE FOR KOHA! I have rewritten the Generate barcode script to use libpdf-report instead of lib-api version <33. I think that this code is useful because I cannot get a version that old. Have not seen Koha 2.26 or 2.27 so please forgive me if this code made it upstream. Please subscribe me tot he developer list if possible.
