Hi colleagues, Converting to the MARC21 structure so far has been a near impossible task for our library. MARC seems to be so confusing, and I was wondering if there are any MARC experts out here willing to provide me with some answers. 1. In our old cataloguing structure, when we catalogued encyclopedias, for example, we would classify them as COLLECTIVE. These were the fields used: 021: Volume Number 023: Personal Author 024: Corporate Author 025: Title 027: Total Number of Volumes I have visited many libraries' websites using Koha, and have noticed some differing fields being used for encyclopedias. Does the title of an encyclopedia go under the normal 245 field, and so on? I also noticed some libraries using field 300, subfield a (Extent), to record how many volumes are in that particular set, while other libraries used the field 520, subfield a (SUMMARY) to record their volume amount. 2. What fields do periodicals use in Koha when you catalogue them? In our old format, we classified them as SERIALS, with different fields as well. 3. Are the control fields needed when I catalogue a book? We will eventually receive training for MARC, but that won't be until next year or so. Here's hoping that someone provides me with some answers. Roger, I was able to install ZOOM and Yaz on Centos 4.4. Below is what I did to get everything to work and install. Error in Generating Barcodes and Authorities

Dear All I am trying to generate barcodes from Koha (Using Generate Barcodes Link at Koha Admin>> Barcode Generator>> Generate Barcodes). Branch/staff's individual account

Can Koha be set up in this way that allows each branch's staff owns their own account? for example, Branch A's circ. crew can have an circ account named ACIRC which is assigned with the access only to CIRC module/function of KOHA and patron of Branch A, whereas the catalogue staff of Branch B can see only Catalogue function instead of the system setting functions unwanted by a cataloguer. check out /issue items

when an item is checked out to a user/memeber, the user's Items On Issue List can't be automatically updated accordingly,instead, it always stays empty. when log on to the user's account via OPAC, I find "no issued items to this user". Christopher, Did you install the Marc.pm? I think I was getting the error before I installed the Marc.pm. I am still having a problem with this install perl -MCPAN -e 'install "MARC::File::XML"'. I get the following error. Failed 4/4 test scripts, 0.00% okay. 29/34 subtests failed, 14.71% okay. make: *** [test_dynamic] Error 255 /usr/bin/make test -- NOT OK Running make install make test had returned bad status, won't install without force root@stcames:/home/clmiddleman/Desktop/koha-2.2.7# Does anyone know how to force install this with the perl command. I am running from root so I am lost as to what is going on. This is on ubuntu 6.06 server edition on a amd64 dual core machine.
