Linking Koha Fields & MARC Subfields

Hi All, Could anyone tell me if it is still the case that only 1 MARC subfield can be linked to an orginal Koha Field? If this is the case, when defining all other subfields associated with a tag, should I use the search also box to tell the system to search in that one field that is linked? system preference error at koha demo site

Hi! When one clicks on the the "system preferences" option in the demo version of koha at http://koha.liblime.com, it gives an error saying that there is no permission. Has it been disallowed now? --trupti

Koha install problem

I am installing KOHA on an amd64 dual core running ubuntu 6.06. When I issue this command: perl -MCPAN -e 'force install MARC::File::XML' I get this at the end: Test returned status 7 (wstat 1792, 0x700) DIED. exporting and importing database?

Hello list :-) I've got a question: We have quite small a library with two branches. There is no internet-connection in any of the sites where the computers are. So, the idea (my idea) is, to export the database of branch A, put the data on CD/Disk, and import that into the database of branch B (and vice versa), maybe once a week or month. Can anyone tell me how that is done? I guess it should work with some MySQL commands? yaz failed dependencies on CentOS (~RedHat)

I've been volunteering to help install Koha at my daughter's school and I've run into some trouble. I have a basic understanding of unix but I'm new to Linux. For several reasons we have installed CentOS ("an Enterprise-class Linux Distribution derived from sources freely provided to the public by a prominent North American Enterprise Linux vendor", which I understand to be RedHat). I have been unable to install yaz, and receive the error messages appended below when I try to install yaz, libyaz, or libyaz-devel. I would very sincerely appreciate any help. running Koha on a dedicated computer?

Hi, We've got a question that I hope can be answered here. We're currently running Koha on a Debian Linux PC. This PC is dedicated for patron use in the Library and is usually unattended most of the time. The problem we're having is that kids are constantly using this machine for playing games and web surfing. I'd like to lock down this PC so that it is used only for Koha. I've tried firewall rules to prevent general web browsing but apparently this can be defeated (how they do it I don't know). I've tried deleting the games links in the Linux desktop start menu but there is always the Terminal window that can be opened up to run programs. How can I set up this dedicated PC so that it can ONLY run Koha? This would mean disabling all options to execute everything other than Koha (via the web browser) and the option to log off/shut down/restart. Ideally, what I would like is to have a default user profile in Linux that, when logged in, would only allow Koha to run and nothing else. I could envision this as no icons on the Desktop or Panels and nothing in the Start menu except the Log Out or Shutdown choices. Koha would automatically start up on the web browser when this login profile is started. If I can get a user profile to do this, then I can have another user profile for Library staff to use that has a "normal" Linux desktop. Has anyone done this sort of thing in Linux? I'm willing to move to another distro if it is available elsewhere. I've also heard from a few years back that Linux firewalls (I am using GuardDog) cannot have user-specific profiles as Linux only supported a single firewall profile for all users.
