Salvete! Perhaps I can lend my silly user's take on things. When I picked up a few keyboard shortcuts here and there, I didn't really care what they stood for, since often things wouldn't make sense in one language, let alone across different languages. For instance, 'C' is used so often that the reminder word for the shortcut doesn't work in many instances anyway. Just as when I was playing a new online game and the shortcuts were different, it was annoying for maybe a few days, but once they stuck, there they are in me fingers. So, it doesn't matter to this user, but it sounds like a cool feature. Cheers, Brooke @ Hinsdale MA

Perhaps consideration could be given to internationalisation of the shortcuts so that they make sense in each language.

The difficulty comes in the translation process. The method we have for translating templates is fairly automated. Language strings are isolated from the templates, translated independently, and then reintegrated into the newly-translated templates (someone correct me if I am misrepresenting that process).

In other words, the templates are not edited directly. It would be an added step to translation to edit the templates to change keyboard shortcuts. It wouldn't be a complex change to make, but it would prevent developers from generating new versions of the templates independently of the native-language-speaking translator.
