installer database error

Hi, I'm installing Koha on CentOS 4.3. I've installed mysql-4.1.12-3 and all required Perl mods. But it gives me the error: ERROR 1045 (28000): Access denied for user 'kohaadmin'@'localhost' (using password: YES) DBI connect('Koha:localhost','kohaadmin',...) failed: Access denied for user 'kohaadmin'@'localhost' (using password: YES) at /usr/local/koha/intranet/modules/C4/Context.pm line 411 Can't call method "prepare" on an undefined value at scripts/updater/updatedatabase line 1553. Problem updating database... I've searched the list archives and seen this error in relation to MySQL5, so doesn't seem applicable in my case. Any idea what I'm doing wrong? -- Jochum

OPAC--Koha home page

Does anyone know how to create a way for Koha to refresh the home search screen for patrons after a certain amount of time? I'd like my OPAC to go back to the home search screen after say four minutes or so. That way it will usually be on the home search screen when people approach it instead of on the last search that was done. Koha/Solaris 9 install problem

I'm running into a problem trying to install Koha on Solaris 9. Salvete! >Do questions not get answered on the list unless we pay for support? Some of them do. It helps to list the real command line error and the version and platform that you use. Also, if you aren't paying, it helps to be patient, because you needs wait for folks with time on their hands to get back to you if they've enough information to help. And, for folks like me, I can answer librarian questions, but it would be a scary thing if I tried to tackle a tech question. Several Issues

1. When a book is issued to a patron, it doesn't load into the user-side to show them what they have been issued. The only place we can view the books that have been issued are within the individual patron's account on the admin side. Our initial analysis has brought us to believe that there is something in the Perl code that is incorrect. 2. After searching for a book, the barcode image comes up with an image error (red 'x'). 3. When you add a book to the catalog, you must select a branch for that book. Is there a way where you can make the branch default, instead of selecting it every time. (We only have one branch.) I appreciate your help with all these problems. Let me know if you need things explained further. -George

opac not showing REAL info...

A new question arose, as I was looking at the z39.50 problem(solved thanks to Mike pointing out that the NPL template didn't work)... all of a sudden when I do a search from the opac page I get 'No Title' listed in the Summary column, Item Type is blank as is Location and Item Count says 0, for 225 "hits" that the search found. There was information on Monday when I was demo-ing the opac search site for another library... That is very disconcerting as I KNOW there are 6500+ records in their as of Monday and were returning properly in the search! any ideas?

Date problems adding new members

On a new Koha 2.2.8 using either the default or npl templates and adding a new member leaving the joining and expiry date fields blank results in no date being inserted. Also when manually entering the joining date the expiry date is still not auto calculated. I checked liblime's demo and it works there. Can someone point me to the section of code that's supposed to do this? I've looked at memberentry.tmpl for both templates and memberentry.pl and am having difficulty following what the code is doing. There's also nothing in the error log. Thanks, Mike D.

Koha 3 and Greenstone

Friends, I recently had a guy from UNESCO ask me if future releases of Koha would have "Greenstone-like features". I think he wants his ILS and his digital library in one single app. I immediately said, "I don't think so." But then I thought, zebra is a pretty powerful text indexing engine and most of the files in my digital library are text pdfs (they have been OCRed).
