Thanks for your support! This is an important feature for our installation here at the SFU student libraries, so I started working on it. It seems clear I need to add four new config parameters for opac and intranet, cgi and html URL prefixes. In my experience with other projects (Gallery, PHP WebDAV and MediaWiki), this parameter is usually named 'baseUrl' or something, however each of these projects has only one URL prefix parameter, they don't separate opac and intranet, cgi and html. As far as distinguishing URL path prefixes from file system path prefixes, I like the Apache Location vs. Directory vocabulary. But for consistency with current 'intrahtdocs' and 'opachtdocs' config parameters, and with the 'intranet-cgi', 'opac-html', etc. path components, I've currently used: * 'intracgi': Should default to '/cgi-bin/koha' * 'opaccgi': Should default to '/cgi-bin/koha' * 'intrahtml': Should default to '' * 'opachtml': Should default to '' Adding the html URL prefixes was easy because html already uses the 'themelang' and 'interface' template variables. I only needed to edit Output.pm:gettemplate Adding the cgi URL prefix seems like it will be more tedious because it's used both in template and Perl code files. Also, before I go editing template files for various translations, I assume each translation is built from one source file? I browsed the developer wiki a bit, but haven't yet found instructions to build a Koha distribution archive from the source repository (presumably this involves compiling localized versions of templates). Please find attached the small patch I created so far and my SSH key. Can I please have access to clone the 2.2 git repository? If anyone can offer feedback or point me at relevant documentation, that'd be much appreciated! Zoom install error

Hi all, I am trying to install koha-2.2.9 on a Fedora Core 6 box but I get an error saying that I am missing the Zoom module. The corrective action is to install it via the perl -MCPAN -e 'install "ZOOM"' command. However this leads to an error: /usr/bin/ld cannot find -lexslt Collect2: ld returned 1 exit status Make: *** [blib/arch/auto/Net/Z3950/ZOOM/ZOOM.so] Error 1 /usr/bin/make --NOT OK Running make test Can't test without successful make Running make install Make had returned bad status, install seems impossible I have also tried to download the tar and install it manually to no avail. Can anyone tell me what I am missing. Thanks in advance, Dave

run Koha using MAMP

hi all, Is it any posibility to run Koha using MAMP?, a program for Mac OSX, that allows you to manage the website locally (installs in one Apache, MySQL, PHP...), I used it to install things like joomla without having a real server, but i get lost with Koha. Any hints? Thanx

Inventory & items.itemcallnumber

Hello, thanks to Joshua Ferraro and Ryan Higgins for helping me understand this problem more. See the thread "inventory.pl not working for me" for the history of this discussion. My problem is that our librarian cannot currently do inventory because we have not been entering in a value for items.itemcallnumber (which I believe to be MARC 082b). Our call number is, however, recorded in the database field biblioitems.classification. What seems to be the solution is for the value of biblioitems.classification to be copied to, or synced with, the value of items.itemcallnumber. I'm sure that if I knew SQL decently that I could invoke some command to do just that. I don't know SQL. Could anyone give me a way to copy biblioitems.classification to items.itemcallnumber? I'm assuming that this syncing of fields would solve my problem and that then our librarian could begin working on inventory. Thanks in advance to any help you can give me in this area. -Matthew

I write to let you know that I have problem when entering my bibliographical data. A message appears telling me that my site (http://192.168.0.6:8080) cannot be opened. It is either unavailable or cannot be found. This also makes it difficult for me to do z39.50 search. Can any body tell me what's wrong. Am I online or not? Salvete! This is a very interesting approach. My take on it is that it sounds to my public ears very similar to things attempted by academic libraries for off site storage. Off site storage is very space efficient. Before you embark, I would counsel you to stick by the old method for popular and highly utilised books so that your Patrons would not be frustrated, nor would your Staff. This would follow Ranganathan's law of saving the time of the user. However, once books have run their course as far as popularity is concerned, this might be a good thing to at least experiment with. I would counsel you to do a JSTOR search or maybe even better a Wilson search through LITA or ALISE or something field journaly to get a perspective on this apart from mine own. The easiest is to mount what is called a "wedge wand" (that is a handheld bar code reader that connect between a PC keyboard and a PC) on one or more client terminals, (not on the server). Price goes between 100USD and 300USD for good quality, reliable bar code readers (Intermec, Symbol). Typical encoding is Code39 for numbers. Once this wand is installed, you can scan the ISBN number bar code (already present on most book back covers) and of course any additional bar code label you may have designed. The wedge wand simple principle is the following: whenever your client terminal Koha administrator interface is waiting for an input (on the right MARC field, of course), the stream of hand typed digits can be replaced by a single scan of the proper label with the wand. Speed and error free are the benefits. If the wand is out of order, you can still enter those number manually. During lending and return operations, the bar code reading with the wand will come handy. You can also go one step farther and make borrower cards with bar-codes (another story) so identifying the borrower and his book is now completely automated. Now the trickier part is to create the book label(s) themselves: you don't want too much or too little information on the label. Just the right amount for the job. The current program for printing labels in Koha 2.2.9 uses large sheet of many labels (by the way, I have not been able to print them correctly so far). I would appreciate an easier program that prints a single label at a time (using a small label printer, not a standard laser printer) at the end of the cataloguing operation of one book.
