Problem identifying children of adults

Hey all, I noticed that when a child is added to an adult, their record is somehow lost. I can't seem to find them in searches either by name or card number. I am assuming that since it's a child, all transactions will be down through the parent. Is that a correct assumption? How to delete a biblio?

Hi, Is there a way to delete a biblio if it has no holdings record? I partially imported a record, but then Koha gave an "internal server error", so I was unable to add the holdings info like barcode. I saw one post in the list archives about how to delete records by barcode. But my biblio record has no barcode. Should I just delete it from the mysql database prompt? Mohamed, for the perl CPAN installs like these: perl -MCPAN -e 'install "You will need PDF::API2 for barcode generator"' perl -MCPAN -e 'install "You will need GD::Barcode for the new barcode generator"' perl -MCPAN -e 'install "You will need Data::Random for the new barcode generator"' perl -MCPAN -e 'install "You will need PDF::Reuse::Barcode for the new barcode generator"' perl -MCPAN -e 'install "You will need Net::LDAP if you want to authentify patrons through a LDAP"' Please note that the "You will need ... are intended as instructions, and not literal text. For the text in double quotes, if you decide you need these modules, delete the "You will need " and "for the ...". You will find they will now install correctly. Good luck. Mike

Help with Koha authentication

Hello to all, I am working on an application based on Koha, but I see the Koha authentication system is very simple, at least for my purposes. Anybody knows how to improve the Koha authentication with more powerful facilities like users signup, confirmation without administrator intervention, options to restrict users signing up, etc. Any idea? Biblio question

Hey all, I noticed when adding a new biblio or editing a present record under catalogue, some of the tags have a '+' sign next to it. When clicked, a small text box opens. Does anyone know: -What exactly those '+' signs mean? -What am I suppose to enter into the textbox provided if I click on the sign? If I have a book scanned into koha and I want to use a barcode already on the book where do I find the page in koha to input the barcode? In other words where is the input section for that barcode?

Validating date

Hey, I have a problem with the koha system not validating the date entered, even though the format is set in the system preferences. In some instances, the faulty data is accepted and in others, such as budget, the date may not be shown. Would I need to change some script to give some error notification and which script? Any other thoughts on how to validate would be helpful. entering items

Hello, I have some questions about items in koha and in general. We use koha with the default templates so far. When I “save the bibliographic record and go to items” and have the ‘New Item’ window open. Is there any way to reduce (hide) fields I do not need like I can in Biblio Framework? There are so many fields we don’t use and I want to make it easier for the data entry person. Which fields in ‘Items’ are mandatory? And which fields should we use? When I have 5 times the same book in the main library should the call number be the same or should it have a c1 (for copy 1) etc. at the end?
