beginners question

Hi Please forgive me if this question is often repeated; I have not found anything that answers the specific questions I have. I am trying to get a small charity's library catalogued and online as simply as possible. I have a (relatively) relaxed time in which to do this, so I can probably learn some stuff as I go along. What concerns me is to make sure I can get hold of what I need either cheaply or for free, and learn only what I must. In your opinion what is the simplest way for a novice to go about setting up everything that Koha can do for this library? The FAQ tells me I need Apache, Perl and some extra modules, but others have pointed me to MySQL. I'm a bit lost. I would like to learn these tools but I don't want to waste time. My really big question is: If I'm starting off with only a bare PC running either Windows or Linux, can you tell me which are the cheapest, easiest programs to download and install? I will just go with any advice here. And secondly, would I greatly hinder things by running the Win32 version? Again sorry for the simplicity of the question, no doubt I'll have far more complex issues soon enough! Hello! l'm trying to install Koha on Ubuntu 7.04 but l'm failing.I am getting the following errors I am being told that some of the modules likeMARC::Charset are not there at CPAN . I have tried some of the available modules but l'm failing. Help on koha for windows please?

I have installed koha 2.2.8 on windowsxp for evaluation purpose and everything seems to be working fine except for some concerns which i wish i can solve fast and move on. From the localhost, it is possible to access all the features just by typing http://intranet/cgi-bin/koha/mainpage.pl or http://localhost however from the intranet, i can only access the opac. My problem is how then do i avail the circulation feature to the circulation staff, and the catloguing module to the cataloguers? Do i have to do any configuration at the server, or at the clients? I need to access other features from the local network clients other than just the opac, how do i do this? Secondly, how do i allocate access previledges for the staff? Dear Sir, Could ask you a help? I have installed Koha 2.2.4 with EasyPHP1-8. I am getting an error in configuration. When I browse as http://<server_name:80> I get the Welcome to Koha 2.2.4 then it goes back to the Internal Server Error that error no 500. Can help me solve my problem in configuration? Koha install with other LAMP open-source applications

I currently have a LAMP stack, with Fedora Core 5. I am interested in installing Koha on this box for testing, but have various other open source applications installed on the same box (Moodle, Alfresco, phpBB, etc). Is it safe to install Koha on this box without it "taking over" the box? If so, what do I need to do in order to have Koha be accessible without taking the box over? Client configuration

Hi, Have installed KOHA 2.2.8 on windows XP and have configured the server based on instructions got from koha docs. My problem is how to access the server /opac from a remote workstion within the LAN. How can I configure the server or workstation so as the can work properly?
