I issued a book to a member. Did a member search from the intranet page for that member and don't see the book issued to that member. I know the book has been issued because it shows up in the database issues table. Why is it not appearing after I pull up member search or check issues in circulation? Can't login to patron account in OPAC with 1 or more items checked out. I've seen this problem reported in the mailing list but only from Windows users. I am using Koha 2.2.9 with Perl version: 5.008003 MySQL version: mysql Ver 12.22 Distrib 4.0.18, for suse-linux (x86_64) . The problem only occurs in OPAC, in the intranet everything is ok. I would appreciate very much if somebody could give a hint to investigate. Thanks in advance. Mr/Rick Welykochy I read your message about changing the main password of koha, and did first step butthe second step is not clear, I opened the mysql command line with runing "C:\mysql\bin\mysql.exe", and typed your command : mysql-e 'update user set password=password("abc123") where user="kohaadmin"'; but it gave me syntax error,please try to write the mysql command exactly. Item/Borrower information

Hello, Just wondering, where can I go to see who has borrowed a particular item out. The OPAC says the item is on loan but I cant seem to work out to whom it's on loan! I can only imagine I'll get lots o flack from the cataloguing community out there for expressing my opinion on this, but here goes. Usually, authority files are a happy thing. You happened to mention Subject Headings, so let's pick on that for a second. An authorised subject heading is a way of forcing your cataloguers to use a standardised descriptor for a given work of a particular nature. Many, many times, these headings are good things. They stop me from calling something by a different name than you would at your Library. "A rose by any other name" is difficult to find in a catalogue. So your authorities file is a whole bank of subject headings and titles and authors that are the uniform recognised entry for a given thingermajjiger. Now, every now and again, those dear hearts at Sodom on the Potomac authorise a subject heading that is whacky and no living breathing biped would utilise in a search. To use one of Berman's great examples, let's say you were looking for a lightbulb in a catalogue about 50 years ago. Good luck with that, you'd have had to check electric lamp incandescent to find what you needed, for that was the authorised LCSH heading. From my own Library, I came across a subject heading for Aeronautics in Astronomy, Juvenile Literature. I promptly added the also authorised Space Shuttle. So, the vast majority of the time, we're grateful for those subject headings, but they get a bit wonky now and again. The Library of Congress are the folks that come up with most of these with input from Librarians and they're available here http://authorities.loc.gov/ Now for the controversial part. This whole system was conceived well before that boon to everyone, keyword searching. As a result, I tend to view it as deprecated. We can now find things much easier on many different fields in different ways than ye olde standard Title, Subject and Author. If you're at an academic Library or a large Public and hope to contribute your records back, you'll need to use authorities to keep their little MARC noses clean. If you're a hermit like me and there's a terribly low chance anyone gives a darn about your catalogue, the heck with it and don't bother. Did that make any sense? Cheers, Brooke @ Hinsdale MA

Barcode Generation problems

Hello all, I'm having a bit of trouble generating barcodes. I think the problem is due to path errors. I'm using ubuntu, koha 2.2.9, and get this error: [Sun Aug 19 18:54:44 2007] [error] [client 10.0.0.1] Can't locate PDF/API2/PDF/Utils.pm in @INC (@INC contains: /usr/local/koha/intranet/modules /etc/perl /usr/local/lib/perl/5.8.8 /usr/local/share/perl/5.8.8 /usr/lib/perl5 /usr/share/perl5 /usr/lib/perl/5.8 /usr/share/perl/5.8 /usr/local/lib/site_perl .) at /usr/local/koha/intranet/cgi-bin/barcodes/barcodesGenerator.pl line 33., referer: http://katalogo.martinmorris.org/cgi-bin/koha/barcodes/barcodes.pl I notice that PDF::API2 has a different installation path to that expected by koha, as my Utils.pm is in /usr/local/share/perl/5.8.8/PDF/API2/Basic/PDF. Playing around and temporarily creating a PDF directory in /usr/local/share/perl/5.8.8/PDF/API2 and copying the contents of /usr/local/share/perl/5.8.8/PDF/API2/Basic/PDF into there gives this different error: [Sun Aug 19 20:36:08 2007] [error] [client 10.0.0.1] Can't locate object method "barcode" via package "PDF::API2" at /usr/local/koha/intranet/cgi-bin/barcodes/barcodesGenerator.pl line 237., referer: http://katalogo.martinmorris.org/cgi-bin/koha/barcodes/barcodes.pl ...at which point I gave up! Any advice. Would be so useful to get this working. Martin

Problem identifying children of adults

Hey all, I noticed that when a child is added to an adult, their record is somehow lost. I can't seem to find them in searches either by name or card number. I am assuming that since it's a child, all transactions will be down through the parent. Is that a correct assumption? How to delete a biblio?

Hi, Is there a way to delete a biblio if it has no holdings record? I partially imported a record, but then Koha gave an "internal server error", so I was unable to add the holdings info like barcode. I saw one post in the list archives about how to delete records by barcode. But my biblio record has no barcode. Should I just delete it from the mysql database prompt?
