KUDOS to use the Koha IRC Channel for virtual meetings

Koha Users, The Koha IRC channel will be used for our virtual meetings. You can sign on via a link on the Koha site at http://koha.org/cgi-bin/irc.cgi. If you want to have a nickname or use your real name type '/nick yourname' without the quotes. So now that we have a place to meet, let's do it. I'll throw out a few dates and times. I'm trying to be congnizant of all time zones, so I'm thinking after 3pm EST, that gives the folks in NZ time to get to work and have coffee, ;-) and the folks on the west coast either at lunchtime or shortly afterwards. Any day next week, February 12-15 after 3pm EST. Does this work for you? What shall we discuss? Send topics. Label Printing w/Koha

Hi all, I'm interested in hearing from anyone using Koha to print Barcode labels of any sort with Koha. Specifically, I interested in knowing what type of label you are using, the template you are using, and any issues you have/had have with image alignment and/or creep on the labels when printing them. cannot add biblio item to Koha 2.2.9: error in Biblio.pm line 1440?

Hello, I am trying to add a biblio item (the very first item on a recently installed Koha 2.2.9 on Ubuntu with mysql 5.0) but I keep getting an error where my browser asks me to save file called addbiblio.pl. Additional authors/ISBD

Hello again! Many thanks to Jim Weinheimer who suggested us to use the ISBD display to get all additional authors visible. This solves one problem but at the same time it creates new ones, as we have not managed to figure out how to make the keywords and authors searchable as they are in Opac-detail.pl, nor how to make the URL:s active. We also tried adding the local holdings data(Items) to theOpac-ISBDdetail.pl, but the holdings data does not want to appear. However, if I understand it correctly: in addition to the Opac-ISBDdetail.pl, you have also managed to make the Opac-detail.pl(Simple view) display the ISBD data. How do we make that happen, that is: how do we make the Opac-detail.pl fetch data from the ISBD? Google Talk via FaceBook for KUDOS meetings

As many of you know, I've been looking for a way to have online KUDOS chat meetings via FaceBook. Well, we tried Google Talk in the FaceBook application. It's very cumbersome and will not work for online chat meetings. However, we could utilize Google Talk via Google. Google Talk is great--you can have either a chat with one person or a group. How's it work? All you need to do is: a. Have a google acct. b. Have an email acct. Then, if any of us wants to talk/chat realtime we can hook up via Google Talk. What do you think? Other options are: a. building a moodle with chat function. (Moodle has a chat function built in.) b. email via the Koha list or FaceBook c. meet in person d. other ideas? KOHA friends, Loading MySQL V5.0 seemed to be the source of the problem with KOHA 2.2.8. Two issues seemed to need resolution for successful logon. (1) Rob Weir's instruction to place the download in C:\MySQL may have been at fault. My original download of the program may have gone into C:\ProgramFiles\MySQL. The latter location seemed to work OK for the installed program, but not for the download. (2) Using the MySQL Configuration Wizard with 5.0, I found that I needed to use "Typical" with NO SECURITY SETTINGS for the root directory. I really wanted to use the "Detailed Configuration" option that offers Multi-language set-up, but that did not seem to work at all. I really want to import and export records with Unicode characters, but neither transfer program worked. I could edit within KOHA and place Greek or Cyrillic letters in a record (& view them correctly in OPAC), but I could not import Cyrillic and read it. Perhaps character maps and diacritics will be addressed in a future Koha 3.0. My goal is to use tools like MarcEdit and MarcMagician to harvest and edit records before import into KOHA. These 2 programs seem easier to use than the KOHA catalogue editor. Thanks for your help in confirming the likely source of my problem. Koha User Group (KUDOS), It's been recommended to use an IRC <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IRC>for our virtual meetings. Now the question becomes, should we use the Koha IRC <http://www.koha.org/community/irc.html>or have one dedicated to KUDOS? I can create one on Freenode <http://freenode.net/group_registration.shtml> and would require, I believe, a download of the IRC client. Which way should we go?
