Nearly four years ago I was introduced in the world of libraries from the ILS programmer point of view. Without prior experience with libraries or library automation this comunity was extremely helpfull and receptive. Since mid 2005 a working Koha Installation serves Universidad ORT Uruguay. installing Koha 2.2.8 on Debian etch MySQL 5.0.32

This is my first attempt I'm using perl installer.pl Everything goes fine except it doesn't create the mysql tables It asks for mysql root password but doesn't accept it. Here is the beginning of the error message: ERROR 1064 (42000) at line 772: You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near 'return char(4) default NULL, renewals tinyint(4) default NULL, timestamp tim' at line 9 DBD::mysql::db do failed: Table 'Koha.categoryitem' doesn't exist at scripts/updater/updatedatabase line 1612. DBD::mysql::db do failed: Table 'Koha.issuingrules' doesn't exist at scripts/updater/updatedatabase line 1613. any help will be greatly appreciated. Jim L

Upgrade from 2.2 to 3.0

Quick question. Using the Upgrading from 2.2 to 3.0 documentation by tipaul, is that after a full install of 3.0 into a new directory, following the install directions that come with 3.0 or when? Some things seem to need to be done before install and some things seem to assume installation si completed. If I could get and idea of waht needs to be done first it would greatly help. We have been using 2.2.9 and would like to convert our current databse to 3.0 format. Thank you! Hi All, We have installed Koha 2.2.8 on CentOS 5. Our college has multiple branches each with its own library. We don't want staff and students from a branch issuing books from other branch. How to achieve this? I saw an un-answered question by Jean in the mailing list regarding this. I have set branch independence to yes. But how and where to assign branch wise rights to patrons and staff? Is there any distinction between patrons and library staff? Where to create library staff logins & restrict their rights to some functionality lower than kohaadmin? In short.. 1) How to create library staff users & assign them branches and rights? 2) How to assign patrons to branches and restrict them to that branch? 3) How to implement branches such that members and staff can only issue books from same branch to which they belong? CPAN problem

Dear Friend, I got the following result while trying CPAN configuration.Following is the end portion portion of the result. Installation ends with this I tried with OpenSuSe 10.2. Z3950 server and item tags

If I decide to use 949 instead of the 952 tag for items will that impact if I put my server out there as a Z39.50 target how my items may be displayed by the Z server? I know some "proprietary" vendors software requires the "standards" be followed for Z holds and ILL for example. Planning for the future.
