Translating Script tmpl_process3.pl giving error
by arnab 09 Sep '08

Dear All, I'm trying to use the script tmpl_process3.pl under script/misc/translator for generating a PO file. But when executing the file it is giving error.... I think the error is on the line no. 63 of the tmpl_process3.pl sub text_replace_tag ($$) { my($t, $attr) = @_; my $it; # value [tag=input], meta my $tag = lc($1) if $t =~ /^<(\S+)/s; my $translated_p = 0; for my $a ('alt', 'content', 'title', 'value') { if ($attr->{$a}) { next if $a eq 'content' && $tag ne 'meta'; next if $a eq 'value' && ($tag ne 'input' || (ref $attr->{'type'} && $attr->{'type'}->[1] =~ /^(?:hidden|radio|text)$/)); # FIXME my($key, $val, $val_orig, $order) = @{$attr->{$a}}; #FIXME if ($val =~ /\S/s) { my $s = find_translation($val); if ($attr->{$a}->[1] ne $s) { #FIXME $attr->{$a}->[1] = $s; # FIXME #### ERROR #### $attr->{$a}->[2] = ($s =~ /"/s)? "'$s'": "\"$s\""; #FIXME #### ERROR #### $translated_p = 1; } } } } if ($transl...... ................. Could anybody suggest why the script is giving error at that line number? Do we need to upgrade?
by Amber M Amland 09 Sep '08

09 Sep '08

Hi all, We're running Koha version 2.2.3 on Linux server 2.6.10 with Mysql version 14.7, Apache 1.3.33. We hired an outside person to install Linux and Koha since our IT staff are not familiar with Linux. Since then we've been able to keep things working well with help from you. Should we upgrade to Koha 3.0? Our Koha's date due stops in 2008. Is there a way to extend that? How difficult is it to upgrade? I'm very afraid of losing our records and having to start over! We have about 15,000 items. Thank you very much! Amber

opac question
by Grap, Sheila 09 Sep '08

Using Marc edit we have been able to import marc records, we can then circulate the books, but they do not show in the catalog. Is there a step after marc importing that we are missing? very small Chicago library startup needs Koha setup help
by Ella Delaney 09 Sep '08

09 Sep '08

Hi All, Please let me know if you can recommend anyone to provide some startup support for our Koha implementation. Given my (tiny) size, Liblime wasn't able to offer a package that was scaled appropriately. I have currently no ILS, and will be importing less than 1000 marc records. Mainly I'll need some advice configuring and importing records, and maybe a bit of hand-holding after, but probably not much. And we're hosting it ourselves, but have a really tiny IT dept. Many thanks in advance, Ella Delaney Head Librarian Flashpoint Academy 28 North Clark Street, 5th Floor Chicago IL 60602 ella.delaney(a)flashpointacademy.com (312)506-0645

comma separated reports and commas in author names
by H.S. 08 Sep '08

08 Sep '08

Hello, Using a snapshot of 3.0 (ver. 3.01.00.001). When I generate a report listing all the catalog items, includes a column for authors, and saving that report comma separated, Base (OOo) treats the authors' last names and first names as different columns (the two parts of names are separated with commas). Is this something I cannot avoid while using comma separated columns or has this problem not been noticed yet? I then saved that report using tabs as separators and it worked properly though. So since Koha has this option of comma separated columns and I am noticing commas in authors' names, perhaps either we (as in 'we in our library') have the authors' names in a wrong format or the comma separated option in Koha is kind of inappropriate for this purpose. Comments? Regards.

Deleting Lists & My Messaging
by Fooled One 08 Sep '08

08 Sep '08

I am running two test servers - both with the latest version of Debian Etch installed. I have Koha 3.01.00.000 installed on one machine and Koha 3.01.00.002 installed on the other machine. I have a couple of minor issues that I would like to get the list's input on. On version 3.01.00.000 when I log into my personal account as a patron on the OPAC I have the options to be notified by email, SMS, or not be notified at all for upcoming events or set a number of days for advance notice. That seems to be okay. On version 3.01.00.002, I still get the headings for # of days in advance, sms, email, digests only, rss, and do not notify, but there are no options listed below the headings. I am not sure if this is just an issue with newest verion of Koha or if I may have missed something during the install...I do have EnhancedMessagingPreferences set to ON. My second minor issue is with with the Public and Private lists patrons are allowed to create. Again, when I log into my personal account on the OPAC - I can create a private and public list just fine, but I cannot delete them. This seems to be a problem in both versions of Koha I am running. When I try to delete my private book list I get the following message: "ERROR: List number 7 (or whater the list number is) unrecognized" Anyone else having the same problem?

guided reports: only checkboxes, no criteria being shown
by H.S. 08 Sep '08

08 Sep '08

Hello, I am trying to make a custom report by following this page: http://sites.google.com/a/liblime.com/koha-manual/Home/Table-of-Contents/Re… On Step 4, the picture there shows checkboxes along with their meanings (Type, Borrower category, Branch code, etc.). But on my interface, there are only checkboxes no descriptions along with them. Is this a bug? I am using version 3.01.00.001 Regards.

HELP: Importing MARC21
by Edwardson Pedragosa 08 Sep '08

08 Sep '08

Hi, We're currently using Concourse ILS. I tried to import the exported MARC21 records to KOHA 3 but i don't know how to map the barcode to koha. The result, no barcode was imported. Another issue is that, when i import the records, holdings is zero which people mentioned tag 952 would fix it. I don't know how to do this and needs help to from the community. A salesperson from a commercial software came today and offered another product which I think my administrator likes. Help is urgently need so I can show the full Koha system--with the imported records from the old system--to my administrator. In this way I can convince her. Is there a site where we can get bibliographic (MARC21) records for easy cataloging? Another question: is yakpac from liblime available for KOHA 3? Regards, Edward
