unable to create new serials

Hello, I'm trying to set up serials records. I have imported marc records for a couple of serials. When I try to "add a new subscription" though, the "search biblio" link does nothing when I click it- nor does the "create biblio" link. Can someone provide insight about what's wrong? error when adding MARC Record

I got an error when attempting to add a MARC record and I need to find a resolution. Here's the scenario: 1) From the "Add Marc Record" page, click on Z39.50 search. Right now I have only one server set: LIBRARY OF CONGRESS [z3950.loc.gov] 2) enter an ISBN-13 = 789780061208461 3) the search is successful and returns "Dirt on my shirt", by Jeff Foxworthy. 4) Click on "import" on the Z39.50 popup. 5) import is successful and most MARC fields are populated. Notably, tag 003 - CONTROL NUMBER IDENTIFIER is NOT populated. 6) When I click 'save', the string 'OSt' is inserted into the input text field for tag 003, and a javascript alert box pops up with the message:"Can't save this record because the following field aren't filled: * tag 003 subfield 0 control field in tab 0" How do I fix this? -- Please avoid sending me Word or PowerPoint attachments. Catalist to Koha conversion

Hi all. We are assisting a local primary school with a conversion from Catalist to Koha. I just wondered if anyone could point me in the right direction to get us started. I see in the list that there were some questions about this back in 2003, and that "The original Koha install was done with data from Catalist." BARCODES

I am a Senior Assistant Librarian in a University in Uganda called International Health Sciences University. Towards the end of last year, I managed to convince the university management to transist from CDS/ISIS to KOHA. The trouble I have now is that I have managed to generate bar codes but there seems to be a bug because the barcode graphics are not displayed. Could you kindly send me a script that rectifies this problem. I also have various item types in my database, is it possible to generate a print out of the entire database? The version of koha installed is 3.0.0. I had previously seen version 2.9 and when generating barcodes it was flexible because there were two options (continous and individual barcodes). I have not seen the continous option in version 3.0.0. How can I get to generate the entire barcodes say from 1-2000 without having to first search and then add one by one? record matching rules

I sent this before the holidays and didn't get any responses. I'm hoping more people are following the listserv now than were in December, and maybe I'll get a response this time. Thanks. Hello, Could someone help me get the record matching rules set up? I can't find instructions in the documentation, and the ones that are in there already don't seem to work. We usually use the OCLC accession number as match points, so I tried this (basically a guess): Description - OCLC control number Threshold - 1000 Search index: o Score: 1000 Tag: 020 Subfield: a Offset: 0 Length: 9 I also tried making the offset "ocm" since that is the prefix before the OCLC number, which is 9 digits. Koha 3.0 and UTF-8 ???

I followed the instructions on http://wiki.koha.org/doku.php?id=koha_3_install_guide_ubuntu_hardy and installed Koha 3 on Ubuntu 8.04. I did everything as on the page and I set UTF-8 where expected. Selected MARC21. Installation was OK. I added my Z39.50 server and searched for a ISBN (9789197658843) but it came back with the non ASCII characters as a question mark in a black square... I imported it anyway and tried to save it but got this error: ------------ Can't save this record because the following field aren't filled * tag 942 subfield c item type in tab 9 ------------ I start to believe that Koha can't handle anything but ASCII. Someone, please prove me wrong.

Koha + LDAP

Backing up 3.0

Hello all, I want to check to make sure I am backing up Koha correctly. I looked at this reference: http://www.kohadocs.org/Backups_and_Restoring.html It refers to the file structure for an earlier version. I couldn't find anything in the doc at https://sites.google.com/a/liblime.com/koha-manual/ , but maybe I am missing something there. Here is what I came up with: Backup the database using: mysqldump --add-drop-table -u<dbusername> -p<dbpassword> koha > koha.sql I am running multiple databases, and am repeating the above for each unique database name. Backup all of the files in /usr/share/koha . Backup the extra config files in: /etc/koha /etc/apache2 /etc/mysql/my.cnf I am also backing up these as I made changes to them - perhaps unique to my install: /etc/vsftpd.conf /etc/network /etc/hosts I am using cron to run several scripts that do the above, using tar -czf to create compressed files and the copying them to a remote location that also gets backed up to tape every day. As I write this, I am thinking I should add /usr/share/perl5 and /usr/share/perl to the list. Is there anything else needed that won't easily install from a Debian install? My approach on this is to have a backup of all the unique items needed for Koha, so I can do a clean install of Debian with Apache2 and MySQL, then restore from the backups and go. As there will be core items that change depending on the hardware config, I don't think I can just backup the entire debian file system and transfer it to a new machine. We are using Koha 3.0 version and while uploanding an patron image following message is generated. deleting item types with phantom uses

Greetings friends, according to the report on item types, there are 25 total biblios in my catalog. They are Books, CD-ROMs, Reference, Periodicals and Visuals. When I try to delete Audio under Item Types and Circulation Codes, it tell me that it is in use 2 times; when I try to delete Books, it tells me that it in use 32 times. How do I access these phantom Audio biblios so that I can delete them and then delete the item type?
