KohaCon unfortunate weather and other information!

Unfortunate weather forcast - but who knows - wait an hour and the weather changes in Dallas... http://www.weather.com/outlook/events/weddings/wxdetail/75035?dayNum=7 PLEASE - come comfortable!! This is an environment to learn so wear whatever is the most comfortable to you. Jeans, t-shirt, suit whatever. I may carry on my tradition of Hawaiian shirts and tan pants started by a friend of mine at other conferences... I'm also noticable that way...;) that also means wear comfortable SHOES as you may be doing some walking depending on the weather... and maybe an umbrella! The hotel does have a courtesy shuttle, but it only seats 6 at a time - and we are planning for about 100 people - all of which may or may not need to use the shuttle in the mornings, afternoon and evening! REMINDER - the hotel is not connected to the conference center it is .96 of a mile - from the Holiday Inn express(3101 NORTH DALLAS PKWY Plano, TX) to the Sockwell center(6301 Chapel Hill Blvd Plano, TX) There is "free" wireless at the Holiday Inn express as well as the Sockwell center, but due to network security there may be some things you can't get to at the Sockwell Center. If you are planning to blog a twitter has been setup by Liz! #kohacon09 - I will attempt to blog when I can - http://libraryonmymind.edublogs.org The mall discussed for lunch is across the street/parkinglot from the Sockwell Center - where there is a food court and an Apple store just down the hallway - here is a google link to it for the shop aholics: http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=willow+bend+mall+plano&aq=2s&oq=willow… There will be a sign in table - At which you can pickup a name badge, a paper agenda, and check your contact information and indicate if you are willing to have your contact information shared with the other attendees. >From the conference website - here is the current proposed schedule: http://wiki.koha.org/doku.php?id=conferenceprogram We are going to attempt to Videotape the sessions - and depending on their quality we will determine if they get published. I will be asking the presenters for copies of their handouts/ppts to post with permission. Some may be more of a demonstration so the video would be helpful! Looking forward to seeing/meeting everyone -- David Schuster Plano ISD Library Technology Coordinator

Hi, I could install the last version of koha (koha-3.00.01-stable) on Mac os x 10.5.5. But in the third step of the web installation, I get this error : sh: mysql: command not found That is strange as it could connect to the database in the step 2 : Connection established. Database koha exists. User kohaadmin has all required privileges on database koha. This error appears only in the step three while trying to "create the database tables and fill them with some default data" Thanks for yours help, --- Anas

Deleting Manage Staged MARC Records
by Frances Sandeman 09 Apr '09

09 Apr '09

Hi, Is there any way possible to delete some bib records that are listed in the Manage Staged Marc Records list? I have downloaded some records ready for staging unsuccessfully and two of the subject keywords in one or more of these records have caused an * Error: ** Can't call method "as_usmarc" on an undefined value at /usr/share/koha/lib/C4/Search.pm line 2133. * This error comes up when i try searching for any records containing the word Geology and/or Groundwater as a keyword or subject, or when i click on one of these words in the Subject Heading Field of the record. I think that if im able to delete the records that were unsuccessfully dowloaded into KOHA that may be causing the problem then that may solve the problem but there doesnt seem to be a way to get rid of these records. Thankyou. * * -- *Frances Sandeman* Library Technician *Australian Water Environments* Unit 1, 198 Greenhill Rd, Eastwood, SA 5063 *P:* (08) 8378 8000 *F**:* (08) 8357 8988 *M:* 0405 510 726 *E:* francessandeman(a)austwaterenv.com.au <mailto:francessandeman@austwaterenv.com.au> *W:* www.austwaterenv.com.au <http://www.austwaterenv.com.au/> Please consider the environment before printing this email /This email and any file transmitted with it are confidential to the sender and the intended recipient and may be privileged or subject to copyright of the sender or a third party. / /If you are not the intended recipient please notify the sender immediately via return email or by calling 08 8378 8000. /

MARC change in biblioitems?
by Winter, James 07 Apr '09

07 Apr '09

If you change an ISBN (for example) in a MARC record, it doesn't change the ISBN column in the biblioitems table. The old ISBN is displayed in the details page for a record and in the basket screen, but the new ISBN is displayed in the MARC view. Has anyone else noticed this?
