Kyle, Thanks for creating these. What distribution did you build them on? I have tested this function because it would be useful also for my library. But in fact it doesn't work. I think it is an error into the help. It is not clear what to enter, a MARC field/subfield or the name of a index ? It is a feature in the 'adding a record' form or only to setup a link in the intranet view of a record. I have setup this feature for UNIMARC subfield 200$f and I don't see any glass. But in the intranet result, MARC format, I see a link "Search on <the value of subfield>". So the question is: This help hit in MARC tag structure administration >link : If you enter a field/subfield here (200b), a little glass >appears after the subfield. Got the Post-Installation Read Me?
by Iman Mukherjee 28 May '09

Hi ! Please, could somebody mail me the Post-Installation Read Me and the Iptables.Rules.txt for installing Koha? I got the Koha tarball from the home site but the manual keeps referring to those above mentioned files. That's why I need them to complete the installation. Thank you, Iman -- A human being should be able to change a diaper, plan an invasion, butcher a hog, conn a ship, design a building, write a sonnet, balance accounts, build a wall, set a bone, comfort the dying, take orders, give orders, cooperate, act alone, solve equations, analyze a new problem, pitch manure, program a computer, cook a tasty meal, fight efficiently, die gallantly. Re: [Koha] Koha and 508 Compliant
by BWS Johnson 28 May '09

Salvete! I always feel like this when folks ask if their Libraries are ADA compliant. Like a wheelchair ramp doesn't mean your building compliant, the fact that Koha is web based doesn't mean it's 508 compliant. However, I feel Orwellian in stating that some systems are more equal than others, and as pointed out by another respondant, at least the hood is open to allow tooling for 508 compliance. Over the years, I have fielded a number of queries sent by people with limited or no sight which lets me feel a little better about Koha than I would with another system. If you're in the US, have you consulted with a State Talking Books agency? This would be one of very many stops I would make in trying to get a feel for the proper steps one would take towards compliance. (Commission on the Elderly, Deaf Alliances, et cetera being other stops...) Cheers, Brooke >Does anyone know if Koha is section 508 compliant? > >http://www.section508.gov/index.cfm?FuseAction=Content&ID=12#Web >

error of fact on new Koha website - and I can't fix it!
by Joann Ransom 28 May '09

Hi there, I have found Horowhenua Library Trust on the new Koha website and our entry is completely wrong: http://koha.org/showcase/horowhenua-library-trust. Our location is Bath Street, Levin, New Zealand - not Christchurch. Also, we do not and never have had only 2 branches. We have 4: Levin, Foxton, Shannon and Tokomaru. I have logged in to try and correct the entry myself but I can't edit the entry at all. Please can you update the entry accordingly, Cheers Jo

Reserves Pending -- priority 0
by Scott Owen 27 May '09

27 May '09

Hi all, I have been trying to find a solution to a small problem that we are having, and I don't seem to be having much luck . System : Koha 2.2.9, on Win 32 Issue: Under the Circulation > Reserves Pending, the priority will occasionally get set to zero...even when the item is issued and the "cancel reserve" option is selected correctly during the issuing procedure. From that point on, onces the priority has been set to zero, there is no way to delete the reserve from the "reserves pending list". The materials are correctly issued and tracked from that point on, but the "pending reserve request" with a priority of "0" seems to stick, and this list can grow quite large over time. Is there a way to clear these from the list using the standard librarian interface ? Is there a good way to clear them with a SQL query ??, is it safe to delete them with said query ?? Is it safe to just delete all reserves with a priority of zero? Thanks, Scott Owen Alma Public Schools

Joann- I haven't done all the "Tips and Tricks" sheets on cataloging yet, but I'm attaching the basic one that IS done, just in case that might help. Would you like me to send the others as I finish them (no timetable right now)? Has anybody tried reading a Koha page with the Fire Vox screen reader plugin for Firefox? We have played with Fire Vox here at our library, and found it "mostly functional". The default voice is "OK" and understandable with careful listening, but the commercial voices you can purchase are much, much better. Greg Lawson Rolling Hills Consolidated Library 1912 N. I don't know precisely what section 508 says about web accessibility, but I can say that KOha's administration interface uses Javascript, (and has no alternative for those browsers that do not support Javascript), which may make Koha non-compliant.
