Re: [Koha] Koha Trademarks
by BWS Johnson 04 Jun '09

Salvete! I'm going to ask this again, because I feel the questions are important, in especial given our current situation in terms of planning. Were alternatives to Trademark discussed such as Collective Mark or Certification Mark? Were non profit stewards considered? (While I know it is the intent for the marks to switch hands when there are users' groups functioning, is this intent in writing?) What would the conditions be for use of the mark by a non holder? Cheers, Brooke

Deleting imported data between MARC imports
by Christopher Curry 03 Jun '09

03 Jun '09

I'm using MarcEdit to edit my MARC data prior to import into Koha in order to get items to import correctly. Unfortunately, I tried importing all 221,000 bibs (231,000 items) into my test server. After indexing 150,000 records, zebra quit due to lack of disc space. I'm using a very old server with only 16 GB of space. When I try to revert the import, the process never completes. Is there a command line process for cleaning up imported data in Koha 3.0.1? It's on Debian Etch. I noticed the -d option in bulkmarkimport.pl, but I've been using the web-based import and would like to continue to do so. I tried running this script with only the -d option, which, as expected, did nothing. Any ideas? I'd like to avoid a reinstall if possible and would be grateful for any assistance. -- Cheers, Christopher Curry Assistant Technical Librarian / Assistant IT Officer American Philosophical Society 105 South Fifth Street Philadelphia, PA 19106-3386 Tel. User profiles ?
by Sébastien Hinderer 03 Jun '09

03 Jun '09

Dear all, Does Koha have some notion of user group ? What is meant here by group is the ability to express that a user belongs to one or several groups, and then writing templates or script that behave differently according to which groups the user belongs to. The notion of group is not the one of category, because a user can, as far as I know, belong to only one user category. Many thanks in advance for any hint ! Sébastien.

problem searching records
by Carmel Young 03 Jun '09

03 Jun '09

Koha 3.00.01 Problem is that when I enter data, the system does not recognise the data until I run the 'fast indexing for search records' command. Then it is no problem, the data comes up wherever I want it, catalogue, barcode generation etc. It seems as if the system is not remembering that the command has been run. I need to be able ot run it once and forget about it!!! This is the output I get: cunima:/home/library# sudo -v /usr/share/koha/bin/migration_tools/rebuild_zebra.pl -b -r -w usage: sudo -h | -K | -k | -L | -l | -V | -v usage: sudo [-bEHPS] [-p prompt] [-u username|#uid] [VAR=value] {-i | -s | <command>} usage: sudo -e [-S] [-p prompt] [-u username|#uid] file ... cunima:/home/library# Any suggestions??? Thanks Carmel Young

Seeking support for Koha: upgrading from version 2.9 to the current stable reslease
by Yohannes Mulugeta 03 Jun '09

03 Jun '09

Hi folks; Addis Ababa University Library System has been using the Koha ILS for the past five years. We started using Koha from the the early version 2.22. Then it was upgraded to 2.24. Recently it has been upgraded to version 2.29. Now we would like to upgrade to the current stable version - version 3.0.1. The catalog (http://libcat.aau.edu.et) contains more than 200,000 biblios and above 350,000 items. Recently, we have tried to upgrade it the current stable version and faced some difficulties. So, we would like to outsource it and seeking for an expert who can provide commercial support for the upgrade and other minor customizations - like the overdue fine calculation. Interested individuals can contact us through the following e-mail addresses: 1) netsanet(a)lib.aau.edu.et 2) yohannes(a)lib.aau.edu.et OR yohannesmulu(a)gmail.com Best wishes; -- Yohannes Mulugeta Computer & Information Retrieval Center Addis Ababa University Library System P.O.Box 1176 Addis Ababa, Ethiopia cell phone +251-(0)911 395 572 e-mail: yohannesmulu(a)gmai.com yohannes(a)lib.aau.edu.et

Koha and MODS
by Nicholas W 03 Jun '09

03 Jun '09

Dear All, We are currently evaluating Koha in our organization, and also soon will be implementing a fedora-repository commons repository where we may use MODS http://www.loc.gov/standards/mods/ for storing bibliographic data. My question is Koha likely to support MODS for import and export of bibliographic data in the near future. Thanks for your feedback, Regards,

Koha Twitter Feed & Yahoo Pipes Advice
by Nicole Engard 02 Jun '09

02 Jun '09

Hi all, I set up a Yahoo Pipe with all of the feeds I knew about that were Koha specific: http://pipes.yahoo.com/nengard/kohablogs But I'm seeing that some of you are updating your blogs and the updates aren't coming through the feed. Any advice? In particular - I'm seeing that LINK 2.0 Koha (http://scls.typepad.com/link2koha/koha/) has been updated but the pipe isn't updating with those posts. --- Nicole C. I have installed Koha but cannot access it. I get: Firefox can't establish a connection to the server at localhost:8080. What may I do to open port 8080 and make it listenable for Koha?
