Greetings, I am new to Koha3, after I upgraded my Koha2 to Koha3, notice that the database design has been changed. FYI, I am using the non zebra version of Koha3. Can anyone tell me is Koha3 still using marc_XXXX tables to stored the marc fields ? Or is it any configuration to be done so that Koha3 will still using the marc_XXXX for storing marc fields ? Guided report download problem

Hi all, There is a problem in reports section of koha. when i try to download guided report then, there is error displayed "Error exporting report! " Is this feature under development, or there is some bug, or there is need of some configuration ? regards -- Er. Confirming lack of edit access to Koha site

Hi, Sorry I've lost the thread of this a while back, but I can confirm that despite having made an account I don't get edit access to any pages other than being able to submit a news item. I confess to not having tried to submit a news item however so I'm not sure how far I can get with that. Can I get some confirmation that this is un/expected? Salvete! The Kaitiaki should have more than just basic login rights to the official site. This is true in especial given Rachel's past hard work on website development. We elected her. Permissions on a website seem a small thing in the frame of guardianship of the entire project, but they're important nonetheless. zebra indexing issues

Hello all, I'm testing importing our MARC data into Koha 3 on Debian Etch and I want to be able to quickly rebuild the zebra index. I found instructions to do so in INSTALL.debian 7.2 Fast Index: $ misc/migration-tools/rebuild_zebra.pl -b -w Unfortunately, there is no /misc directory on my server...does this mean that I missed something during installation? I do have a rebuild_zebra.pl script, located at: /usr/share/koha3/bin/migration_tools, but when I run this script, the following error is returned: Can't locate C4/Context.pm in @INC (@INC contains: /etc/perl /usr/local/lib/perl/5.8.8 /usr/local/share/perl/5.8.8 /usr/lib/perl5 /usr/share/perl5 /usr/lib/perl/5.8 /usr/share/perl/5.8 /usr/local/lib/site_perl .) at /usr/share/koha3/bin/migration_tools/rebuild_zebra.pl line 5. BEGIN failed--compilation aborted at /usr/share/koha3/bin/migration_tools/rebuild_zebra.pl line 5. Context.pm does exist at /usr/share/koha3/lib/C4 Can someone tell me what @INC is referring to? It is not referenced in the rebuild_zebra.pl script. Any help will be greatly appreciated. BTW, I was able to successfully index my first import by setting up the zebra demon and running: zebrasrv -f /etc/koha/koha-conf.xml I want to be able to **rebuild** the index, though, so I will need to be able to run the rebuild_zebra.pl script. Koha public Z39.50 server bug. Work to do in koha-conf.xml

Hi to all, last month different peoplae wrote about an error on how-to put on-line a public z39.50 server. The error (in the log of the zebrasrv) was: zebrasrv(1) [request] Init ERROR 1 ID:81 Name:YAZ Version:3.0.45 62f4f43aa7b97890d7c4bf776e3749f25b2e1c5a I think To have found the source of the error. See the first lines of koha-conf.xml with a public z39.50 server: [...] <listen id="biblioserver" >unix:/home/koha/koha-dev/var/run/zebradb/bibliosocket</listen> <listen id="authorityserver" >unix:/home/koha/koha-dev/var/run/zebradb/authoritysocket</listen>  <listen id="publicserver" >tcp:@:9999</listen> [...] you have the error. But if you change the lines in this way:  <listen id="authorityserver" >unix:/home/koha/koha-dev/var/run/zebradb/authoritysocket</listen>  <listen id="biblioserver" >tcp:@:9999</listen> the z39.50 public server now works (on biblios database). But why ? I think it work because in the rest of koha-conf.xml only two server are setup, biblioserver and authorityserver. The server publicserver doesn't exist. So the error that we see with yaz-client means: "You are asking of an on-existing server. This is a permanent error. This what I have found. I don't know what is better to do now. I don't what Zebra conf is needed to have in the local servers on unix socket and only one server on public tcp port. Bye

Disallowing holds

Is there a way to do disallow holds for certain classes of materials, or at the individual item/ record level? I've poked around the settings for Item Types & the item-level subfields, but haven't found anything yet. The ability to do this would come in handy because we're thinking of adding records to our catalog for the downloadable audiobooks our patrons have access to through Overdrive. Other libraries have found that instead of going to the Overdrive site to place holds/ get access to the audiobooks, patrons invariably attempt to place a hold through the catalog. Does not work, needless to say, & just creates more work for the library staff. The same basic idea would also apply to downloadable ebooks, streaming music via Naxos, etc. Thoughts? Goods and bads...

.. hi folks. I´ve been away from this list for some time (years?). I installed Koha at Universidad ORT Uruguay in 2004-2005 with Andrés Tarallo (http://biblio.ort.edu.uy = 61000 biblios) and adapted the system to feet our needs (version 2.2 or 2.4). Before Koha we had MicroISIS. I still work at ORT University but I also work at CES, which is the secondary schools headmaster organization at country level.... well, perhaps it's no so big, Uruguay is not a big country, only 3 million people. We have 270 schools with a library on each one, a big library (I don't know the size yet) and I believe there are a few other small libraries around. Much of the catalogs are in MicroISIS and OpenBiblio and we want to migrate to a fully centered web based architecture, our schools are in the process of being digitally interconnected. So of course my first alternative is Koha as this is the platform I know best, but... (there's alway a 'but') the 2.2 version of Koha had a lot of good code and a few very, very bad pieces, not that I'm a good programmer. I feel this new project will also need some level of code alteration and I'm worried about the actual code status. I haven't got the time to setup a new Koha installation, and I have some questions perhaps some of you can answer, sorry for my laziness but I really don't have the time to read the code: -How is the code today? Does it still have library specific hard-coded pieces? -Are Authorities and Serials working well? -How about acquisitions? -How does Zebra performs with complex queries, say, 5 to 10 terms ( A and B and not C or D... etc.) Some history of my work with Koha. I've modified a lot the Koha version a got from Internet because ORT University wanted some processes to work in a certain way not fully supported by Koha. I contributed to Koha source with a few patches and I also made a fully new search system using MySQL full text search capabilities. I "invented" a query language (reinventing the wheel?) and a translator to SQL. With this search improvements I've managed to reduce the complex searches delays from minutes to seconds, say 15 minutes to 10 or 20 seconds. We hired Jean Pierre Ducassou, he was the one who finished the search system and developed a new record display system based on XML+XSL+XSLT which we still don't have online but will have in a few months. We need to alter some MARC data to unify criteria here at ORT. Of course this code is available for free to everyone who wants it, just ask for it. My regards to the list and Paul Paulain.
