I hope you release it soon. I just jumped on board and there seems to be a huge need to a more unified method of documentation. Either that or more interest in Koha. Elias

Question on authorised values
by Ondrej Mlecka 25 Jun '09

25 Jun '09

Hi all, I would like to ask something about authorised values. I created some authorised values - contaning of an auth. value (normally an abbreviation) and its description. I would like to ask how this values are intended: is it the value self, or its description, what a patron can see? In Opac Detailed View (no XSLT) there appears the value (the abbreviation). So it is also in Staff Client MARC View. On the contrary, during the cataloguing, there appears a pop-up menu with descriptions of auth. values. Also in the Enhanced MARC View in OPAC, one can see only the descriptions. So I would like to ask which should be the text a patron can see: the abbreviation or the description? Or, is there a bug? Thank you for your help, I hope the description is not too confused Ondrej Mlecka

Opac XSLT: Problem with displaying of authorized values
by Ondrej Mlecka 25 Jun '09

25 Jun '09

I want to define authorised values for some fields - for ex. 657 (Term of function) or 650 (Topical term). However, in OPAC (with XSLT on), the content of these fields doesn't appear, but there appears only the letter "a". I removed the definition that the fields 657 and 650 contain authorised values, and everything was OK, so the problem must be in how Koha display fields with authorized values. Would anyone know how to fix this problem? Thank you Ondrej Mlecka Casa Balthasar Roma

Zebra and Italian records
by Stefano Bargioni 25 Jun '09

25 Jun '09

Hi, a question of the Koha installer is: Koha supplies Zebra configuration files tuned for searching either English (en) or French (fr) MARC records. Primary language for Zebra indexing (en, fr) [en] Which is the best choice for Italian records? I wasn't able to find something useful in http://www.indexdata.dk/zebra/doc/. Thanks a lot. Stefano

Salvete! I'm looking at you New Zealanders. Is there relevant code in Kete that could be hybridised with Koha to do this? (Or probably more properly as a first step towards seeing this sort of functionality...) I have to wonder if this is summat that Jo would have wanted by now... Hello All. I'm having problems placing items on hold in the 3.0.2 release -- when logged into the OPAC, clicking on the "Place Hold" results in a nasty error in opac-reserve.pl I am testing on an a cleanly installed RedHat Enterprise Linux v5.3 server with Koha 3.0.2. Re: [Koha] MARC fields: server-independent URLs
by Sébastien Hinderer 24 Jun '09

24 Jun '09

Hi Doug and all, > That is where the Rewrite command comes in. Check the Apache doc. I think there is a misunderstanding between us. I perfectly understand what apache rewrite rules can do, but I do also believe that, for the problem we are discussing, they can not help. Assume a bibliographic record present in Koha with no physical copy attached to it. Then, you, as a librarian, want to attach a file to the bibliographic record. So you select a format, a filename which is stored on your hard drive and ready to be uploaded, and you submit all this information to koha. The file will be stored somewhere on a file server. The question is: which part of code should be modified so that Koha generateds atomatically a URL and stores it in a 856$u UNIMARC field of the bibliographic record. This URL should be a valid URL which gives the user an access to the file, perhaps by means of apache rewrite rules. The question is really: how to do to have KOha modifying the MARC records to store the right URLs. Moreover, I don't think this can be done with Koha so the real question is which script or module should I modify sto achieve such a result. Cheers, Séastien.
