Help with multiple copies
by Wilma Marakan 20 Oct '09

20 Oct '09

Hello all, Our library is new to KOHA. We have migrated our bib records from a non MARC format. Many of our titles are original cataloguing in book and serial formats. We have migrated titles with multiple copies which had separate biblios in the old system and would like to edit and change it to have 1 bib record for multiple copies with items for separate branches. The same goes for our serials. Is there a quicker way of doing this? We are using KOHA 2.2.9 on Ubuntu. Thank you for your help. Wilma Marakan

Looking field 852 (MARC21)
by Sergey Lessenko 19 Oct '09

19 Oct '09

Dear Friends, I'm at initial stage of using Koha. I would like to enter data into field 852 (MARC21), but I don't know how I can do it. I see this field in page for editing structure, but when I open form to add a book, I do not see it. Some fields, for example - 100 and 245, I see. Thanks, Sergey Lessenko -- View this message in context: http://www.nabble.com/Looking-field-852-%28MARC21%29-tp25956334p25956334.ht… Sent from the Koha - Discuss mailing list archive at Nabble.com.

Re: [Koha] Koha Manual in Git
by Nicole Engard 19 Oct '09

19 Oct '09

I misunderstood the difference between copyright and licensing (as in the GPL) and for that reason - and the fact that the 3.2 is so different from 3.0 - I will be re-writing the 3.2 manual from scratch (which will also force me to review every single section in more detail). For right now I'm about to update the version that is in Git to include LibLime in the copyright tag (since it does include content from the old 3.0/3.2 manuals). For the future, I will be the main copyright holder on the manual and when the Koha Foundation is formed I will sign my copyright over to the Foundation as I don't think any one company should own the copyright - instead it should be community owned (feel free to keep this email so that you have documentation of my promise). Other copyright holders will be ByWater Solutions and BibLibre and anyone else who helps me write bits - or contributes their documentation for me to include in the manual. I hope this is acceptable to all - I think it's the best way to support the community and the best way to force me to make sure ever 3.2 feature is accurately documented :) Thanks everyone for your understanding and support so far, Nicole C. Re: [Koha] Sort batch label items by barcode

The ability to select alternate indexes to sort in would not be too hard to add, but would take some code work. Feel free to open an enhancement request at http://bugs.koha.org and vote for it and/or offer sponsorship for it. Perhaps there are others who would like to see this feature who would be willing to co-sponsor. Kind Regards, Chris

Amazon cover images on OPAC, not on staff search?
by Agnes Rivers-Moore 17 Oct '09

17 Oct '09

Hello all We catalogue a new title, make sure that the 10 digit ISBN is in the first of the 020 fields. Often we even copy the 10 digit number from the Amazon site. After saving and indexing (Zebra) is complete, we find that the cover image appears correctly in the OPAC, but not in the results list when searching in the staff module - there we get 'no image available'. Other titles do have covers showing. I have Googled this and not found any references to this specific issue. Can anyone shed light? Koha ver 3.00.00.107 Thank you Agnes -- Agnes Rivers-Moore Assistant Librarian Hanover Public Library

KOHA and computer reservation software
by Adrea Lund 17 Oct '09

17 Oct '09

Hello, (I'm posting this to more than one KOHA list - sorry if you get multiple copies) I work at the Grand County Public Library is Moab, UT. We are a Liblime customer and we have been using KOHA in our library since May 2009. We would like to know if there are any libraries that are using computer reservation software integrated with KOHA to manage patron sessions on their public computers. Please email my library director - Carrie Valdes at carrie(a)moablibrary.org with information about what you are using and what level of pc management it provides. If you are not currently doing this, but would like to be and you are interested in this as a development project please let us know. We've been told about a very basic open source computer reservation software option, and we are also considering non-open source products like the reservation software from Envisionware. I'm getting ready to leave on vacation until Nov. 2nd and I will have unreliable email access while I'm gone. So, please direct emails to my library director until November. Thank you so much for your help! Adrea Adrea Lund Head of Adult Services Grand County Public Library 257 E. Center St. Moab, UT 84532 435-259-1111 ext11
